I am thinking about getting a Varex muffler for my car, I will get the twin tip oval one as my car used to have twin tips and I reckon it looked better. Anyway, they are sold on ebay for $433.00
http://cgi.ebay.com....B:WNARL:AU:1123
I just would like to kno where others have bought theres and how much they payed? Like is the Ebay one cheap or are they making a killing?

$399 each is what I paid from one of the suppliers on the Xfroce Varex website. Was overnight delivery too :) That was for the canon style.

Richard, I personally dont know if the twin tip will fit your car mate.
It didn't fit the vr4. I had to modify it and only have 1 tip exposed!.
You might have to go for the single tip one.
As for price, can you get trade price from your work?
If so, give them a call directly mate. The twin tips are pricier than the singles too.

So, are you saying that they are not "street-legal"...? From what I read about them, they are legal...but the issue is, the exhaust noise can be easily adjusted, technically making them illegal...

They are illigal in the ACT but unless your getting a full inspection at a station, i doubt they could tell.
My brother has the ovel on he's CC gsr and it wasn't the nicest of fits (may have been the shop that did the work), also got the tip on the end changed. The car is getting a repray atm, I'll get some photos when he gets it back, if you can wait that long.
has anyone else that has a varex got some photos they can thow up?

The EPA passed law back in Feb 2008 but werent enforcing it until Sep 2008 that basically states exhaust systems are not allowed to have removable or adjustable devices which make them quieter or louder. Its a stupid law if you ask me as some cars come with adjustable exhausts standard and whats the problem with trying to make cars quieter? Have a look at the attached screenshot below which shows the 2 new additions to the NSW regulation in the red box :( I think this will filter through to the other states soon. Our only reprieve is the fact that not many Police officers have undergone the special training in this new EPA law. If they have then they can issue fines as per this http://www.cityofsyd...leNoiseInfo.pdf . Something to note in the link above is that external wastegates are allowed in NSW if plumbacked, but in the VIC equivalent of this document they state they are not allowed altogether. No wonder people get confused! The law changes depending on what state you live in and its fkn rediculous.
Its like when all states got together to work on a national Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Modifications a couple years back which was lead by DOTARS. The aim was to get the RTA, VIC Roads, QLD Transport etc to agree and standardise the laws across all states... but pffft... I think only the RTA was OK with it and Vic Roads hasnt agreed to it yet lol... In some cases we win and we lose once a national COP is introduced but until then we live in a country with a LOT of GREY AREAS depending on the state you live in :(
Oh and as per Varex Website their disclaimer:

VAREX MUFFLERS ARE DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED WITH THE INTENTION FOR RACE AND OFF-ROAD USE ONLY.

Yeah, I like the way that they word their disclaimer lol
VAREX MUFFLERS ARE DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED WITH THE INTENTION FOR RACE AND OFF-ROAD USE ONLY.
Why would you want to reduce the noise and flow of your muffler if it were to be specifically for off road and race use only...it really defeats the purpose....
IMO, this muffler only benefits sleepers for the street...

It also keeps the neighbours happy early mornings/late nights and quietens it up around the po-po. You could drive around with the butterfly open as a straight through mufflered cannon on the street and when you get around the block to your house close it up to keep the locals happy. Once you have a neighbour complaining to the EPA/Police about loud exhaust noise you're screwed.

The varex are considered a "temporary defeat device", which are specifically mentioned in the law and are illegal.
Its a stupid law because enthusiasts use these mufflers to have a quiet exhaust on the street and open them up for track use, (like me).
Oh well... with the butterfly shut the cops shouldn't have any reason to pull u over as they wont have heard a deep exhaust note and be tempted to check it out.
