You shouldn't need power applied at all to do this. I've done it a few times, including once in the rain :( It is an easy job and you should have no dramas mate.

Don't know how everyone gets such poor fuel consumption..... not 100% sure on mine driving around the street, but Highway km's I'll get just over 400kms a tank. On a fairly modified 4g63t.

Used heatwrap on the exhaust manifold here. No issues, and the heatwrap still looks very clean. Under bonnet seems a bit cooler too.
