If it is too small then you could just drill and tap. Or alternatively im sure there is a temp setting that suits that tread of the bolt. From memory the factory temp sensor thread is 3/8" BSP.

My guess is that the sleeve in the main linkage is worn. The spring appears to be acting like it should (well at least like mine). For a complete shifter revamp you need: 4x MB580253 2x MB367320 1x MB307949 1x MB871927 (Sometimes you will get this sleeve/collar you get solid shifter base...
