    Idle settings on ecmlink

I have posted this on ecmlink aswel. Just covering all bases to hopefully get a quick answer. I have been setting my idle settings while car is off. I have set the idle switch pin correctly and have the tps set to .63v. Then I need to adjust the idle speed screw (biss) so the isc motor is set to...

    Dodgy isc motor?

Awsome. Ecmlink told me it was the knock sensor connection. It had come unplugged probably while I was messing about with the throttle body.

    Dodgy isc motor?

With the vr4 one it makes no difference if its plugged in or not. From cold I also have to put and hold my foot on the gas to keep it running. It needs the idle screw wound out a few turns to idle at 850rpm at full temp. The only way I can get it to idle by itself from cold is if I turned the...

    Dodgy isc motor?

I would love to but the laptops at the misses place at the mo  After this problem is sorted I will be getting a wideband and will finally be able to tune this thing like yourve told me...better late than never.

    Dodgy isc motor?

Hi guys, I have just swapped the bottom of my throttle body with a replacement. I did this as my car was leaking water into the inlet manifold, It had no warm up cycle and also when I turned the steering wheel the car would drop rpm at idle. I found exactly the same part from a 3000 v6 magna at...

Does anyone know the factory inlet port size for vr4?

Cool, Thanks bud! Now to remove all the sludge. Its very gluggy, dry type sludge so im pretty sure its left over from when the egr valve was leaking into the inlet. All fixed now so time to give it a clean up and slap it back together. Then I will be changing to a 2g timing map and going to all...

Does anyone know the factory inlet port size for vr4?

Iam trying to confirm what head is actually on my car. I have taken the inlet manifold off and have come up with these measurements. 37.5mm x 61.0mm this is taken from the very outside edge of the port. 34.20mm x 60.2mm taken with the calipers hard up against the face of the head ie inside the...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

Took inlet manifold off today. These are the measurements i got for the inlet side of things Cylinder head- 37.5mm x 61.0mm taken at the face. ie not entering the port at all. 34.2mm x 60.2mm taken with the calipers hard up against the face of the head. ie inside the port...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

I dont think that has been done. It has the adjustable fuel pressure reg and walbro pump but not sure about hard wired. When I get the net back on this week i will post up another log on ecmlink with knock turned on and see what people think. To be honest I think this car is tuned as good as its...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

Yeah it does look to have the aus spec vr4 intake on it, but saying that. When I was looking at the hyundai inlet manifold at the wreckers it does look the same so cant be 100%. I think next step is taking the inlet of and measuring things up.

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

Sorry guys getting the net back on tues, not had it for a while now. The car is stil not running how it should. It has about 150kw@wheels now so is a bit faster but stil unable to have more than 16psi or it starts to knock severly. We may have made an interesting discovery though. This car could...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

Yeah i disconnected the boost controller. It ran lower boost as suspected but stil was way down on power for 14psi. We did remove the ecm and put th meek back in. It does make more power than the safe setting we have the ecm set on but it seems to be geting knock still. so maybe im actually...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

Iam not sure what rpm the base timing was set. I will ask next week. I just had a look at the log. When under full throttle from 2300 to 6300rpm you can see the timing drop from 18 degrees at the start down rapidly to 9.9 degrees around 4200rpm and then it creeps back up to 15.2 degrees by...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

Sadly the timing belt and tensioner have not solved the problem. I got hold of the guy who built the motor and he said it was a full standard vr4 rebuild even down to keeping the balance shafts. He also mentioned the knock sensor wasnt replaced at the time as it worked fine. He did mention the...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

Im aware that crank are hard to turn by hand! I was meaning with a wrench  Its just what the tuner told me over the phone. He would have a fair idea of whats a normal feel for a crank while checking timing. I sure hope hes wrong though! Cant wait to hear the results, Will be a...

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

I sent them to Thomas Dorris of ecmlink. He suggested a few things but said there is definitely something else going on. Its not the chip or ecu. Waiting to hear back about results after belt and tensioner have been replaced. Il post the logs up once I get the car back this time, also the dyno graph

    VR4 16psi and 139kw@wheels??!!

OK I can tell you this so far. The belt was tight at idle but when revved up you could see it flapping a bit under load. Belt is now off. It was put on backwards and also the tensioner was checked against another one and was definitely lacking pressure. So a new belt and tensioner will be fitted...
