Why can't you use first gear? The gsr gearbox will bolt into the vr4 - you may need to also use the gsr transfer case, depending on the splines. gsr box is 3.545 ratio same as vr4. gsr rear diff won't bolt into the vr4 (rear subframe is completely different) and there's no point in doing so...

Yup. The cupholders are still pretty awful though - turn left sharply and it'll end up in your lap! I'd suggest cutting the base of the stock cupholders then making a piece that is 30-50mm lower for the bottles/cans to rest on.
