I don't know, I opened the back cover and did some things in the back end of my replacement box. Meek in Sydney sell some bits like bearings and synchros. Otherwise gears and other bits you need to get from a used gearbox because Mitsubishi don't sell them any more.

Started raining hard again before I got the chance to remove the seat cover from the driver's seat. Pics of that to come. Here's some pics:

Hi, I need a bootlid for a CC GSR / CC sedan with or without spoiler, in charcoal. In Melbourne. I picked up a straight but rough one today so I'm only interested in the charcoal/gunmetal colour. Anyone got one? Cheers

The replacement gearbox is now in (I also replaced the transfer case). The car is going well now. I've spent a fair bit on it now :unsure: There is a little bit of fat in the price -- I need to sell it by mid-Jan at the latest.

Got the gearbox in and all finished today, went for a drive and found that I couldn't get 5th gear. The reverse sensor needed a washer under it (forgot that). With that washer back in, I can get 5th. I thought this info might help people. The synchros are good so far. The gearbox has a whine in...

Looks good now, it has as much movement as my original gearbox. Shame the weather is so crap down here in Mexico ... I'm keen to get the new box in and get back into the GSR. I'm surprised I got so much help with something so unusual ... props to all the members on here that helped me...

The shaft has no sideways play when I move it around and the box has supposedly only done 130000kms. Is that an adequate test? I pulled it out a fair way and it looks clean ... but then I don't really know much about the insides of gearboxes. It looks like I'm going to learn...

Cheers. Yeah I'm going to use mine. The speedo connector is stuck as well, but it looks like it will work. I'm pretty annoyed because I was hoping to put this in on Sunday and now it's going to be put back :angry: The daily Corolla that I bought got driven into and has to go in for repairs ...

Thanks for the EXCELLENT information and help ... this kinda sucks though, the dude told me the box had no issues, this kind of messes with my plans. At least it looks relatively straightforward ... I can probably tax the ball bearing from my stuffed gearbox at least.

Hmmm none of this sounds good. The guy that sold it to me said it was fine while he was using it, mechanic removed it and fitted an Evo gearbox ... It hasn't been rebuilt or anything, just removed. So it's arrived here by courier and the shaft is loose. Where can I get one of these ball...

Shit. Which end cover do you mean? The end with the spline/clutch housing or the engine mount side? Where am I likely to find that bearing? I've got no idea how to put it in ... the manual I've got doesn't have a lot of detail...

I recently scored a second hand GSR gearbox and the output shaft (going to transfer case) is loose. It doesn't have side wobble, but I can pull the shaft in and out. Is this normal?

It will be a genuine Evo 4. There was a loophole for a couple of years where you could bring in a parts car and get it registered in VIC and QLD for sure, and it seems like SA as well. I think the VIN numbers were allocated by the cops or the state RTA/Vicroads/etc. Some of them were called in...
