    Starter motor

Make sure you have these things in place: 1. A massive earth wire from neg battery terminal to the gearbox or engine block, and eather wire from neg battery to boddy of the car. 2. A massive big wire from the pos battery terminal to the top stud on the starter solenoid. 3. A small wire to the...

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Yes, clutch is slipping. Anyone have recomendations for a organic clutch?

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Ratios seam fine. It is the original diff from the 2.4litre van, not the 2.0 litre. I suspect the standard clutch is starting to slip under boost. The customer has this car now thank goodness. I'm sick of it.

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

I work at JDS Auto Imports and did this whole conversion myself. I called in Aaron Martan (Azcustom) to do the stainless intercooler pipes, which are done very well with a TIG and brushed to a nice finish. The customer will get this very shortly once a few gauges and things are sorted. Original...

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Of course I found the pinouts on this forum very easily... But it was a headache mapping out the circuit diagram in my head, and having to find the relay pinouts myself. All done now, the motor is running nice. http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/JonnyRochester/Evo-van/

EVO ECU Pinout & Colour Chart - COMPLETED

I just put up some colours there. Where the ECU pin is listed, it is the same wire and colour as at the ECU, (or MFI as Mitsubishi call it).

EVO ECU Pinout & Colour Chart - COMPLETED

Anyone doing any serious work regarding these ECU pinouts (engine converions, different computers, rewiring etc) also needs to know the pinouts of the main relay. It is called the "MFI Relay". It has 2 relays in it, one controling the fuel pump. The other sends power to the sensors, injector...

ECU numbers. Evo I, II, III?

I have a 4G63 complete motor and loom and ECU from a Evo. I am wanting to know what version this is. The ECU has CD9A writting on it with paint from the wrecker, but this can't be trusted. ECU number is: MD187701 I assume there are no significat differences between I, II and III evo.

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

The motor is bolted in now. All mechanical things have been done. The firewall had to be chopped heaps. I am now looking for the Evo3 computer pinouts just to check my wiring. Anyone got these? Or a Evo3 wiring diagram?

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

I just spent $900 at the wrecker, to get a gearbox, flywheel, clutch, tailshaft, clutch pedal and clutch cable. I got the parts from a early 98 2.0 tradesman van. It seams to me: All the 90's vans with the 2.0liter have the narrow 310mm spacing and cable clutch. And so the Evo3 4G63 should just...

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

I think the Starion gearbox has the shifter in it, the van needs a remote shifter with linkages on the side of the box.

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Thanks guys. The van is a 93 passanger van with seats, and 4G64 EFI and it has hydralic clutch, 7 bolt flywheel, wideblock, power steering, and A/C. Back seats are gone, turned back into a tradies van. I will be shopping for a gearbox and flywheel today.

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Thanks guys. I have started on this now. The van had a wideblock 4G64 EFI motor. The motor is out now. The EVO 3 motor is narrow, 310mm. I now need a gearbox to proceed. I think I need a narrow block gearbox, flywheel and clutch. The van flywheel is too big to use on the EVO3 motor. I suspect...

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Another question... I seams we are going ahead with the Van, not the Triton. Is there any chance the Evo 3 front brakes will bolt up to the van? Probably not, I could make it work if I had to. Anyone know the size of the van brakes? Pajero front brakes? Anyone know if the van gearbox is...

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

I am the head mechanic, but it makes no difference. We have to do the conversion all the same. I work on imports all day but all my conversion knowledge is about Toyotas. I'm greatful for any help here, thanks.

Where did my polished rocker cover go? Bit of a laugh lol

Paint it black or some colour. Will look better. It is etched now anyway, makes a good surface to paint on.

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Thanks alot JStyle, very helpful. Which part of the belhousing or block do I have to measure? I still havn't seen the customers vehicle but we will start any day now. But... I have been told we maybe doing the same to the customers Triton ute. We have a EVO 3 motor lined up. The Triton is a...

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

Thanks for your help. Keep the comments coming, I am actualy going to do this project very soon. I have previously rebuilt a Galant VR4 (same as early Evo I think) with big turbo and MicroTech. Got about 195kw etc... I guess we have the option of either getting a Evo motor, or turboing the...

    '93 Van with 4G64, rebuild + turbo or 4G63T?

I am about to start work on a customers '93 Mitsubishi Van, which I'm told has a 2.4L 4G64 16V single cam motor. This customer wants some turbo fun I think. Please help me out and let me know what combinations will work, what gearbox and clutch etc... to get close to 200rwkw I guess. options...

    Timing Belt replacement

When the timing belt is not fitted, one of the cams will not like to sit in its spot. This is because of the valve springs. The cam will spring around to where it wants to be. You can hold the cam in position and put the belt on but it still maybe out because the timing belt will not have it's...
