060 vs 070 housings

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

my guess is that 060 gives better low down response, comes on boost faster at the expense of top end power, also the 060 housings have the smaller outlet to the dump pipe don't they?

its the total area inside the exhaust housing

070 is wider than the 060..

bit laggier, but much better topend..

dont do the 060 in your evo mate, try and find another 070..

port it out

i think my turbo has the 060 housing on it... i haven't pulled the heat shield off the manifold to check yet though, but it's got nothing above 6000rpm.

that has to be a 060, because even with my stock exhaust i have power up to 7

i was just reading dsmtimes.org and there are afew cars that have run into the 11s with a 14b.. so iono..

Jon

pretty sure most of them are on the bottle, and with heavily ported housings. COuld even have 070 housings as 14b really only means 14b compressor wheel yeh?

So how much power is a 14b good for before it turns into fan heater.?
Will they run 16-17 pound while still being efficient?

I think the biggest disadvantage of the 060 housing is the cracking problem as soon as you run higher boost through them. Not that the early 070 housings were much better. Was this problem resolved on the evo 3 070 housing?

apparently it was... supposedly they have a higher nickel content in the housing to reduce the risk of cracking.

im pretty sure the E2-E3 housings are thicker, and also cast from a different material.
