Hey guys

My little RVR is about to tick over the big 100k on the clock and I am going to get the timing belt done. I was just wondering if there is anything else you guys would recommend replacing at this interval while I've got the guys doing the belt?

water pump, balance belt, belt bearings (kit) possibly harmonic balancer.
and then things you'd do on a small service, unless recently done, oil, filters, spark plugs, engine flush, leads etc.

That's what I've been quoted to do everytime I ask for a major service, so...

Wish my car was younger, I've just passed 160,000k :( But it's still going strong given I look after it.

I did mine and did what dan listed.

With our Motors, the water pump is easy to get to when you're doing a belt change, so it's worth doing.
I'm happy to give you part numbers if you need them and all the bits.

Shoot me a call if you want.

Only 160000, I'm almost at 190000 ;). Time for me to do the belts again.

I haven't done 100k in mine, but did do the belts when I changed cams. As others have mentioned - definitely do all the other belts, bearings and seals. You can buy some good kits around the place - from memory I sourced a kit from MEEK. Cheers.

I read mixed reports so I had my timing belt (+ water pump, etc) done at 80 000.

Anyone had any issues prior to 100k with their belts and pumps?

Mine were done at 100,000 without an issue. I still have all the old belts here I think, I could show you the wear on them. The bearings were pretty boned though.

I had the timing belt tensioner done as well as I didn't know the history of the vehicle.
I would have saved a lot of $$$ if I had gotten the parts from Meek, as it is most was sourced through local Mitsi dealer
(But I had to find the part numbers)
Also replaced the thermostat while everything was in pieces

I might grab those part numbers off you if thats cool man. We'll have to catch up if I ever have a free weekend which is so hard this time of the year FML haha

I HIGHLY recommend using OEM 'Dia Queen' fluid in your gearbox. I'd also look at replacing the brake fluid and power steering fluid too

Always pays to replace the fluid in your transfer case and rear diff too- the transfer in my new VR4 seized just last weekend!
