hey guys,

just found a nice 18g td05 on forcedperformance.com for a good price.

has anyone here used an 18g on a 4g63?

also, it isn't water cooled, is this much of a problem?

thanks guys!

it isnt watercooled just means its not ball bearing
like all other trust/greddy turbos

i dont think its a problem
but if you had the same sized turbo in ball bearing, it would spool up faster, and probably last longer

Since when is a 14B/16G and big 16G ball bearing? (they are watercooled and oil cooled turbos)

did you miss the part where i said "not ball bearing"

our turbo's are also water cooled...

some turbo's are, some aren't..
the water basically just cools the centre..
it'll still work without the water.. but the oil could cook due to the extremem heat which will eventually kill the turbo..

lol sorry my bad..

watercooler and oil cooling of the turbo is good for cars that heat up their turbos during the driving ie.. highboost/circuit racing/drag racing..

i was also wrong
lol
i had no idea that our turbos were watercooled

i cant think of any factory turboed car that isnt watercooled.. almost every truck if not every truck turbo is not water cooled.. ie.. T04's

matress, pm wyda. He'll give you a complete rundown on 18g's.

To give you an idea, his car with just an intercooler and exhaust with the 18g would light up all four wheels when it shifted from 1st to 2nd and came back on boost (pretty much instantly too). It used to make 15psi at about 3600rpm.

u have to block the water pipe line (lower) with a bolt, or braise the existing water pipe and leave the fitting in..

as for the upper, u can block it off with a block off hose...
