Thought you might be able to help me on this one.
Trying to work out if I can use a 7bolt crank shaft it a 6 bolt 1gen block / vr4 block.
Nitto, Manley, BC, all make stroker kits but only for 7bolt 4g63
I've been in contact with them all and they stopped making 6bolt stroker kits as the demand was very low..
The bloke from nitto said I could use the 7 bolt stroker kit but I would have to change the fly wheel-clutch kit to a 7bolt flywheel.
Do u know if this will be ok are the fly wheels the same and do u think this will work before I go buying a kit then end up finding out that's its no good.
The kits I'm looking at are 2.3L stroker kit with 100mm stroker crank shaft but in 7bolt form
The engine I have is a 1gen 4g63 VR4 engine/block
Is there anything else different between the 1gen 6bolt and the 2gen 7bolt blocks

Thanks
Regards
Zen

The rods are different. i think the 6bolt has a wider big end.

you need a g64 crank. from a 6 bolt nimbus.

I would be sure that cranks are available from usa . they have heaps of 6 bolt engines and not much 7 bolts.
Head studs are fatter on 6 bolts

as above, cant be done, big ends and main sizes are bigger on a 6 bolt.

you can use a hyundai, nimbus or L300 6 bolt crank though

Yeah done some research and spoke to few people
Who have built few 4g63 1gen and 2gen engines
And yeah the block are completely different you cant put a 7 bolt crank into a VR4 block. The main journal sizes are all wrong ! They are narrower, and the thrust setup is very different.

So will have to go with a eagle 100mm 4340 billet crankshaft
For this 2.3L engine build with Manley turbo tuff rods and Manley turbo tuff pistons!

Thanks for ur help
Cheers

The mitsubishi 100mm 6bolt cranks appear very strong. They are forged steel, and according to a book I have-"How to build max performance 4g63's" they are all shot-peened and nitrided from factory. I'm yet to lean on my 2.3, so I can't say from my own experience, but unless you want BIG power, you shouldn't need to spend heaps on an aftermarket crank.

I got a mits 100mm crank through Engine Trans Parts Australia for $250, and they had it on the shelf.
I'm sure you can get one heaps cheaper too if you feel like looking around.

But then again, if you get a good price on a full rotating assembly kit, it might be worth it.

Have you tried these guys yet? You can mix and match hat you want : http://www.built4g63.com/Rotating-assembly/

Be care with a full kit as the value is over $1000AU and you will get stung with 10% GST, 15% Tariffs, $$$ in import duties etc.
Sometimes it works out better to buy separately to keep the value under $1000AU, but it takes a bit of to'ing and fro'ing comparing parts and shipping prices.
In the end, the full rotating assembly kit might even work out cheaper to bring in all at once if factoring freight for other bits one by one.

I also strongly recommend getting a Kiggly mains girdle for around $120: http://www.maperformance.com/kiggly-racing-6-bolt-main-girdle.html
(wish I got one for my car but there's always time for another engine build later down the track lol)

Also, put though a quote and ask for USPS priority express shipping as it is the cheapest and is only ~7days to send, and if it is over $1000AUD inc shipping, ask them nicely to lower the customs value declaration.

I just put through an order 2 weeks ago for $1800 worth of parts, sent for only $160 in postage and no customs hassles at all They took a week organising the package and once they were done they even asked to make sure the customs value was still ok before sending.

Seen built 4g63 stuff it's good and cheap well lot cheaper than AU
I can get full rotating assembly for around 2500 from AU
Witch is all Manley but its for 7bolt
They make 6bolt rods and piston but not crankshafts!
Built 4g63 do a 2.3L stage 3 bottom end that is eagle 100mm stroker crank
Manley rods and pistons including the block and all machining and assembly rated to 1000Hp acl bearings included
$3800
Freight would be a killer
By time u brought a stroker kit in AU got it balanced block machined all bearings and payed for assembly
It be nearly double.
Still yet to get in contact with them to see how much freight would cost and all the rest of it,
Interesting to know.
