Hey, im Dan. Drive a White 2000 CE Lancer Coupe 1.5
It's totally stock, but i want to do a 4G93 conversion on it and go twin-cam.

No turbo's allowed cus im a p plater under the new laws, and yes im well aware that an engine swap is also illegal, but it doesn't require an engineering certificate as it came on the same chasis and what cop is gunna know the difference between 4G15 and 4G93? :)

hope i can help in any way, shape or form and no doubt i'll learn alot from this place off you guys, thanks.

welcome mate!
the 93's are no good to turbo convert later,
i'd save the cash from a conversion and put it to getting a nicer car after!
just my 2 c :)
enjoy your stay

Welcome to team4g ...
Nice plan you have there...
my friend have a CC coupe with 4G93 n/a and with some mods it can be quite amazing for a 1.8L non turbo ;)

welcome! (belated but welcome none the less)

i got a 4G93P (quite a few mods mid you) and for staying n/a atm, its fkn brilliant.

I will say i have spent alot more on it than if i had turbo'd it, but im in the same predicament as you, no boost till fulls. But i'm gonna bore & stroke it soon and then boost in the coming years if i still got it...

The motor has been pulled apart and rebuilt twice now and both times, not a single problem, jsut routine replacement of seals, rings, gaskets & bearings.

i don't know if any of that matters tho, when it comes to it, the 4G93 isn't that great stock, but responds well to breathing mods (intake, TB, zorst) which makes it attractive.

It took alot more than those mods to get my car to where it is tho... lol but i beat type r's so i am happy lol

thanks for the welcome! even though i havent been on for a while.. yea having a few thoughts about the conversion now and trying to weigh up the pro's and cons of doing it or not, on one hand i could spend a whole heap of money to make my car reliable and fast OR i could just save that money and buy a factory boosted car when ive done my p's.. decisions, decisions!

Welcome man!

Yeah i would wait till ya on your opens and buy turbo AWD, Mind you, boosted FWD is Fun. But the Gsr or Evo is a better base to mod and so forth.

I was in the same boat as you, and i went for the GSR 4G93T conversion. And looking at it, you will have to spend quite abit of money, but in the end ive spent heaps on the car anyway, so i decided to continue doing so.

Good Luck on whatever you decide to do!
