4g54 gearbox

Help Support 4GTuner:

To tell if it is wide bolt up gearbox or narrow, you can measure the lower bolt holes of the block to gearbox that are inline with the sump. the easy way to tell at a glance is the narrow bolt up has the bolts for the gearbox about 15mm from the sump. The wide bolt up bolts for the gearbox is about 30mm away from the sump. General rule of thumb is 4g54 motors or Aston 2.6 blocks that are manual, are wide bolt up. All Aston motors that are on automatic gearboxes are narrow boltup. Also front wheel drive motors are all narrow boltup. So I would say that you have a wide boltup

Jap gearboxes such as the 2wd triton,L200 have a 1 piece bell housing and gearbox. I would gather the 4x4 is the same, only the Australian Borg Warner gearbox had a removable bell housing. The only suggestion I could think off is to get hold of a starion block which are wide bolt up, or early triton 2litre then use all the vr4 engine internals

The great wall have a 4g64. Someone here says they are a wide block...

But I saw pics of the 3g style. Like the g4js sonata. And apparently they have a wider pattern than the narrow blocks but I dunno if they are a wide block or something else altogether. ..

other option is a cut and shut if you get stuck, welded by a certified as1554 welder

Welded from inside and out with many passes,
