small project i have been fabricating for the past week in my spare time..

i'll explain more later... in my pursuit for MIVEC 1G.... if all this works i'll be going MIVEC shortly after..

DSM/1G block... (still my built N/A)

feel free to discuss....

i was thinking it'd be awesome to be able to put onto an early 4g, if you figure it out mate that'd be awesome keep us updated

i have been curious to see if this would ever work too. i just love the sound of a evo 4-9 head makes out the exhaust, totally different to a 1g.

I had studied both heads 1G and 3G for about ... an hour before i began any work...

more work today... yes timing marks line up the same as if it was on an evo...

looks like the 3G sits taller. That'd likely be due to the MIVEC... Could be worse... 2GR-FE is a pain in the ass... lol

Really? you sure? Surprising. Usually variable valve timing gear in the heads make them bigger...

Very nice. You are a pioneer. Hope it all goes well.

I was just thinking about the direction of the engine rotatation. The starter will turn the engine the correct way for the 1g but the valve gear will be spinning reverse to the normall direction of flow????????????????

I think I have confused myself.

I really hope it all goes well for you, i'm keeping this subscribed, would be good to see it happen ! Would you just run the evo 9 ecu with just cut in wires for the earlier evo sensors ?

Will turn the correct way, is only silly hondas that spin the other way.
Mitsi wanted to remove a shaft from the gearbox to lose weight at evo4. There was 2 choices, spin engine opposite way or turn engine around. They chose the latter

yes i'm sure.... the MIVEC is not like VTEC with extra lobes etc.. we have a movable cam gear on the intake side thats controlled by oil press. only difference in the head is extra oil ports and 2 solenoid that sit on the out side of the head next to the intake manifold...

Clean your pistons!!!

NO

dont those oil returns hang out the side of the headgaskets? do you need to weld them closed?

why yes they do...

Thanks... yes slightly confusing :p

cheers!... just using ECM link, remember this is only an EVO7 head for the time being.. if this works i will be going full MIVEC with evo 9 ecu..

i had researched before attempting this, and all i could find were 2 drag cars that have done the conversion.... but are very tight lipped about it....

I can hook up a MoTeC M800 for you? I'm full pro at it.

NO

That looks awesome.

Looks like it works..

ahaha i doo too!

Why can't the whole engine bolt onto our gearboxes

i'll look into it for you... i have access to both 1g and 3g blocks....

new manifold..

just to prove a point: the both rocker covers share the same characteristics, the EVO 4-9 covers are higher to allow the engine to breath a little bit more..
