hi everybody...

i have a 1990 E33A 4G63 SOHC Galant and im thinking of swapping a 4G63 N/A DOHC engine to it...
so i found a car with a DOHC engine..this will be a 1st Gen DSM 6bolt 4G63 N/A if any of you guys are in USA.
but i want to rebuild that engine upto a fast naturally aspirated engine. don't wanna put a turbo on a FWD car

and the plan is to build a Fast 4G63 Naturally Aspirated engine...
and im thinking............

New intake upgrades (seen lot of peolpe put Evo III and Evo Viii mafs.. so maybe one of those)
new Full 3inch exhaust
ported head

VR4 injetors
performance valves + retainers + springs
performance bearings
performance Cams (272 maybe)
adjustable cam gears
forged pitons
forged con rods
cometic head gasket
ARP main + head studs
balance shaft eliminator
engine management system

now am i going over my head?
or am i being a super newbie?

i found a of sellers on ebay for some of those mods and the list below is a quote i got from one of them

click

Custom High Compression Pistons with Eagle H Beam Rods $899
ACL Race Series Bearing Kit $179.99
Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit $55
ARP Main Studs $75
ARP Head Studs $115
Cometic Headgasket
Brian Crower SS Valves $280
Brian Crower Springs/Retainers $215
Brian Crower stage 2 272Camshafts $385
Fidanza Cam Gears $199

are these too expensive?
anyway i found that some of those stuff i could get for lower price at some other sellers
anyone know a trustworthy seller?

im a first year mechanical student
and i showed that list to my lecturer.. he said lots of people go over their heads when they start putting money to an engine doing unnecessary things (probably a hint to myself )

what do you think guys?
and also, Do parts from a 4G63T engine fit a 4G63 N/A engine? which parts would be incompatible?
asking cos there are lots of performance parts to be found for 4G63T but not for 4G63 N/A

any advice will be much appreciated... and if im being a noob and posted a stupid post, still BE NICE.

think i posted this on the wrong section.... so sorry ... ....
but still im all ears

If you are really set on an n/a motor, I'd build up a a g4cs motor. 2.4 liters with all the compatibility of all the 4g63 parts. I ran one of my setups as an n/a motor which was a 2.3 stroker with a stock exhaust and it made 140kws at the front wheels.

This was with all the good bits but low comp. In saying this, you'd probably make more power for less money if you had a standard 4g63 turbo setup.

What we lack is the weight advantage that hondas have therefore we need too make up for it with more power.

if your keen to sell the SOHC inlet manifold let me know bud

Gl with the build , it would be interesting, you could build a really high comp setup , but I would get rid of the maff sensor completely

Jayrome is a good person to tlak to about this motor in N/A form

Thanx, i quite like the idea of a 2.4ltr motor. Did u swap a G4CS crank or did u swap the 63 head to a G4CS block?

Im thinking of putting a 2.4 crank in to the 63 block. Do i need to change rods? Do i need shorter rods?

And im putting 272 cams, and got adviced to get 12.1:1 comp pistons coz the cams would reduce the dynamic compression.
Is that right?

Thanx man!

HI thanx
Am not thinking of selling any part of the sohc motor yet! Its stil my daily driver. :)

So il have to put a map sensor to completely eliminate the maf. what about the air temp and barometric pressure sensor in the maf? How would the ecu work without those inputs?

Since am putting 272 cams, do i need the compression to be as high as 12.1:1 ? Got adviced to do that

And who is jeyrom? Whats his screen name?

Thanx man!

g4cs is basically a bored out VR4 4g63 with a 6mm taller block, and obviously a 100mm crank.. Everything from a VR4 motor will bolt onto a g4cs block.

A standard g4cs coupled with a 43cc 4g63 head, comp ratio is around 11.0-1 which is plenty enough on pump 98. You will need to use adjustable cam gears to set the cam timing exact.

thanxx Paul..

im not putting a G4CS block ... just thinking of putting a 4G64 crank in to the 63 and making it a 2.3 - 2.4ltr.
