Hi all!!
Im venturing to the dark side of the 4G6X engines and need abit of advice...what are the differences between 4G63 and 64 pistons? Im aware there are bore differences but not sure in which way also woulf i be able to use the pistons listed to suit and 4G64 bottom end and 63 head but with the sohc head?

I would think they would be ok. The dohc pistons only have small cutouts and the sohc valves are not as canted as the dohc. Also being turbo pistons they will have a bowl not a flat top for the lower compression.
Not sure what cc the sohc heads are.

you should always be checking valve to piston clearance on assembly, but the sohc engines are refered to as non interferance engines even with na pistons.

Ive heard the cc of both sohc and dohc is very similar if not the same , i will definitely be checking piston to valve clearance when i assemble it. In wanting to convert it to a CAS setup also.

7bolt is far easier to go to cas. The mounts are on the dohc front cover. They probably not on the sohc cover. And there may be differences in the timing pulley setup.

What cam sensor do you want? Oh- the sohc one.
just get a dohc head...

I have no idea when it comes to 4G6x engine i hoping i could do similar to what ive done with my 93T CAS into SOHC 93 Head pull the dizzy out + abit of possible machine work and the same thing may have happened.

Its a 7 bolt 16v
