background; Microtech will only let you run a minimum amount of timing advance, static timing, i guess this is from the 'old' distributor days. This seems to be about 7 degrees on my 4g93, so the only way for me to run LESS timing is to move the Static timing value. Easy enough with a distributor but this thing uses a CAS and it doesn't look like it can be moved easily...

how can i change the static timing of the engine?

Not 100% sure with 93s but 63s you would rotate the cas until you see the ignition point change with a timing light and sto at your desired point. You just have to keep in mind that what is in your map will be off by whatever the difference is between what you see with the light vs figure on the controller/laptop. So 7deg on your microtech, adjust cas until it is at 5, lock. trim whole map manually on microtech to suit (so advance 2 deg everywhere) except for idle where you want to keep it low. Hope that makes sense.

I the case where 93s aren't adjustable at the cas, you can modify the trigger disc to suit.

just back off the bolts on the cas and rotate it keeping an eye on the timing mark with a timing gun.

U are still using the sohc 1.8 yeh?

If so i think u might to do what baz said and modify the trigger disc.?

Yes, SOHC, two bolts hold both the CAM and CRANK sensors in fixed positions. Looks like modifying the trigger wheel is the only option...

what's the easiest way?

Does the microtech have a setting to adjust the base timing? Like an offset crank position? I know wolf / motec / autronic have this setting.

It doesn't seem like it, "static" sets the base timing of the motor and is the minimum setting you can get to.
Changing it only reduces the values you see on the PC not at the crank :(
Taking out any amount of timing, like 50degrees, from the map just gets 7 degrees.
