Right done the evo 3 td05 swap and I'm quite happy but feel I want more so going to need forged internals can someone who has gone over the 300hp mark give me a spec list also will diff's and box cope

I know a gsr box will handle 300hp. Mine held up to 400plus. There are plenty of avenues for upgrades to a 93t. And I'd think maybe, maybe u can make 300hp. 16g is a start. Injectors and ecu upgrade are definitely necessary.

Unless you can get a secondhand forged engine cheaply, it's probably more cost efficient to just go 2L. Arent early evo's like $5,000 for the whole car in the UK? Im assuming the engines arent what they cost here due to that. And yeh, you'll need injectors and ECU. Minimum 560cc's I'd think, for 300hp atw.

forged rods/ pistons will set you back around 1k then you've got your machining on top. from there your gonna want at the minimum a chipped or late model ecu for tuning. recommend aftermarket though dyno time and injectors. thats the minimum to start pulling out numbers 300hp on a tdo5 is doable you'll want to up the boost to around 20-25 psi and then dial in timing etc. you may need cams.

this is why i love my 4g92 topped 1.8 those mivec cams are huge it's like running bigger than hks 272's but still keeps a stock idle and good torque down low. now all i need are a set of ign coil that actually work and a good tune to make the power

The bullshit stops when the flag drops.... I am well within a juggle over engineering stuff. I do tend to over engineer stuff

The bullshit stops when the flag drops.... When will ppl just admit that a 63 is far superior avenue. Easier. It's not even about displacement.

Yeah but such a better satisfaction to tell someone that they just got rolled by a 1.8lt. It's a cheaper avenue to go 2lt and alot less stressful than trying to find the parts for the 93

Never seen a shirt that says " milk and juice only come in 1.8l " though have you?
2l ftw...
The satisfaction of thrashing a big v8 in a 2l is equally rewarding.
Powercruise proved that for me many times this year.

tbh i think the cost point of the 2l vs built 1.8 is about on par these days. a decent 2l is getting harder to find. i beleive price points for engine are around 1.5k for an unknown condition minus accessories.

you can pick up a 1.8l block to machine for $300 forge it and top it off with all the parts to "run" for about the cost of buying and rebuilding a 2l of course to start pulling power out of it you need more than just the "running" level of equipment. but tbh i think price point for both is about the same now. if not a little in the 1.8's favor for a fully built motor

There has to be a point when the 1.8 becomes more expensive per hp than the 2.0
I would think that point might be 250kw atw.
maybe its at the point where cheapest forged components become not strong enough.

Its like planning 400awkw and doing it with a 2.0. Its easier to get there with 2.4
but if budget is no limit im sure you could get 1000hp out of a 93t

There is a fully built EVOII motor for $8.5K for sale in "Car Parts for Sale", then there are the shipping and conversion costs.

You could save a stack of money if you can do the conversion part yourself, you'd probably need to allow a minimum of $10 - $11K to buy and install, I'm probably being optimistic...

Then there is also a Lancer evo 1 4g63 motor for sale at $2000, (thats a bargin) and then again there are the shipping and converstion costs. So if I am consistent, using the above rule of thumb, $3.5 - 5K to buy and install... assuming you can do the work yourself.

Then there is a Meek EVO1 conversion FS for $8.5K.

I know what I would do if I had the money up front.

Your right I haven't seen a shirt that says that, which is all the more reason not to go 2lt, they don't have a stupid saying for it haha. I've got a 1.8lt, 2lt and a 2.3 nitto stroker motor, sometimes it's good to be different and stay with the original engine and not follow the crowd

But if you look at obtaining a 63, converting it and a rebuild. The costs may be $7k. That same $7k goes a looong way on a 93t that you already have. Even if you plan on getting a good 63t and fitting it, for maybe $4k, thats still a pretty quick little 1.8 and its a engine you already know all about.
how fast was old mate in his red 1.8 over here? Still has the top 10 record for sub 2l turbo cars at motorplex. Mid 12 i think. And thats a fast car anyday on the street.

Like what ejackulator said, it will be better off staying with the 1.8 if your not chasing 500+KW. I did a 12.5 quarter with basic evo bolt ons, it's gone a bit far now but once you start looking at big power think of the gearbox costs akso

all said and done I'm about 7k into this engine this includes full assembly parts aftermarket ecu and tune this already puts me ahead of the fully built 2l for 8.k a little behind on the 2 grand gamble engine and ahead of the meek conversion. the tuner himself said it the engine makes shedload of power if you throw the timing at it (which he couldn't thanks to bad coils) so tbh these days i stick by the assertion that 1.8l can be as good as and as economically viable (as far as mods on a 20 yo car and engine can be) as the 2l sure you may make the power more easily because the addage is true now replacement for displacement. anything over 250 - 300 kw in the 2l and alot of people are power hungry chasing mega numbers with strokers destrokers etc did you all know the most powerfull 4g63 in the world is actually a 1.8l
