Hi all,

Just curious if anyone can enlighten me abit more on the 4agze piston, ca18det rod setup in a 4G93T?

How do you find you combination? and what type of boost and management are you running?

I used these rods.... http://www.euroexportinc.com/store/eagle-eclipse-2nd-gen-1993-2001-connecting-rods-crs5900mb3d-994.html
mine had arp bolts fitted.

I also used these pistons.....http://www.euroexportinc.com/store/wiseco-mit-mirage-1-8l-4g93-turbo-piston-set-std-9-1-kmi11017-1115.html

at today rate the 945.00usd conversion works out to about 910 aud plus post.

How much boost you running? power figures? im just after something thats guna take a hiding!!! and make good power as reliably as possible

If you were to use the B6T rods with 4AGZE pistons, the combo is a little under a mm shorter than stock heights so you have to much around with your block deck and headgasket thicknesses.
Also, I saved a quote some time ago from JSTYLE you might find interesting - he used the CA18 rods instead.

A few years ago i built a 4G93T motor. It made 230kw AWD on 20psi with a T04E hiflow TD06 Comp cover TD05H core/rear housing combo. A bastard of a turbo but it was insane!
Modified factory ecu/560cc injectors
The motor cost me about $3000 to build not including labour. The Main parts were:
CA18DET rods (machined to fit)
CA18DET main bearings
4AGZE Factory forged pistons (had to cut abit out of the skirt to fit but worked a treat)
chrome moly rings (hastings i think)
Cd5a ML HG
3SGTE head studs (abit tall but worked well)
stock head reco.
Pretty cheap fun and enjoyable motor that never missed a beat! Really good daily car too...
Now i let the cat out of the bag shall we be seeing more CA18DET rides?
oh yer the 4AGZE pistons can be ordered new from TRD for $95 each
cheap cheap!
Jon

all u need to do is machine the journals of the ca18det rods to suit the crankshaft. (ca18det rods are too chunky, just like GTR ones im told?)
The 4AGZE pistons skirts will hit on the crank so they need a bit of a cut out, out of them but nothing major to get clearance.

Other then those 2 mods its pretty piss easy.
my old motor setup above with the TD05/6H t04E setup ran
11.28 @ 124mph...
BANG FOR BUCK MOTOR OR WHAT...

it has just done 2100 kms and is running "safe" at the moment.....probably too safe. It copped the first big rev yesterday and seemed pretty gutless at .8 bar on tdo14b.

so tuning begins the weekend.

Thanks evo-oox j-style was who i was thinking of when i asked the question, just couldnt remember who it was haha
Thanks heaps everyone i reckon i will give it a go!! Got ca18det rods for free, pistons are cheap from toyota and ive go a spare block and crank.

Will do man, Im abit unsure on the CA18DET main bearings though, why not just use 93 mains?

[There are a few 4agze piston set ups you can do. You can just machine the piston skirt for crank clearance or machine the crank down, it cost me a box of beers. There are 2 4agze pistons, I used the high comp ones with mazda eagle copy b6t rods (200$) and a standard 1.5mm head gasket. comp was around 7.8:1. It made 410whp and cost around 1300$ to build the engine, turbo and intercooler. Car was always driven hard with lots of antilag and I couldnt kill it.

Fuck yeah awesome!!! Block goes iinto the shop for machining weeks ends!!!! getting excited!!!

cant wait to see how it goes.
any other pistons you can use to make the compression around the 8.5 mark? make it a bit better for daily driving?

8.5:1 is the standard gsr 1.8 ltr comp ratio
But tipping u already know that..
Consider 9:1 and keep boost low for daily diver?
