Hi guys/girls

well i got pulled over by Queensland transport tonight ( bad news ) the transport officer was trying to tell me that my 1993 Lancer gsr does not come with the turbo engine in it.... he is trying to tell me that the engine was out of another model car wtf its standard in the car with the engine (my gsr in a genuine gsr)

so i require legal documentation stating that the engine comes standard in the car. i have 2 weeks to prove that plus fix the defects

regards
Grant

Its in the standard lancer operating manual, also qld transport should already have the document on their system, just tryin to think where else there is info, maybe under the bonnet plate or the firewall

i dont have a lancer manual to show him, he looked in his book and it didnt even show a cc model went as far as ce, nah they went through all that

LOL?? what a wanka! I think he was just being a smart ass/scaring you.

No proof is required as transport authorities would have car manufacturers information in their systems, which is directly linked to your rego plate/VIN number

Agreed. Don't u have Ur engine number on Ur rego. If it matches the engine in the car then that's a start for now

Grant- have a look on Ebay. I picked up a couple of the owners manuals for About 15 bucks...

Worst case scenario- I could scan and email you the pages needed to burn the dopes... Can't believe how stupid Government Agencies can be...??

Also go down to your local Mitsubishi dealer, they will have details of your car when you quote the VIN number.

How did this occur?

Where they with the police at the same time?

What about just printing off this?

Yea they were with the police, the transport officer was gunna take my car off the road because he didn't have the required infomation on the cc gsr, his book didn't even have the cc model in it. This all happened last night on the sunshine coast.

I went to mitsubishi and I hope the paper they gave me will work. I honestly think he was trying to scare me

so you got a canary aswell aye. i got one when i drove up to urs to pick up that dang turbo like bloomin vulture up there i've never had any trouble with the popo until i hit brisbanes northside

The OEM owners manual/handbook that came in the glovebox when the car was purchased new, is the best unfiltered source of information for any vehicle. The motoring authorities will know that so easy to get your canary cleared. Even when engineering my car we had to refer back to it for wheel track, wheel, capacity, weight etc information. Get yourself a handbook and keep it in the glovebox. :)

tell them to do a dotars search before lodging any defect notice next time, or you'll see them in court an call up 60min for harrassment

yeah ill try to get a a handbook, he took photos of the car Fkn everywhere the speedo, under the car, front of the car, rear of the car, engine bay, the vin numbers, what will that mean all because he didnt have the required information??? its only a white defect notice and i have to get a part inspection on the car signed off and faxed to the police station in Maroochydore

I've heard of them taking pictures so that if the car is pulled over at a later date they have something to compare its current state to?

My CC GSR was incorrectly defected for the ride height being too low, all because the copper was looking at completely the wrong type of Lancer, in whatever book they use that states all of the factory ride heights.

Even the Transport S.A. guy admitted the copper stuffed it up. He was out by 20mm, which makes a big difference when we're talking ride height.

I kept saying to him - it's a "CC GSR AWD Sedan" - but they just say "doesn't make a difference"

Well yes, it f*kn does actually!!

should i be worried about it all??
did u get photos taken too ???? so what did they say did they remove the defect???

I don't think they do the whole photographing of cars here is S.A. - I could be wrong though, but they didn't with my car.

No, the wouldn't just remove the defect. Even though the cop was wrong, any defect here in S.A. guarantees your car will have to pass a complete pit inspection.

I had to remove my 18's, BOV, EBC, and coilovers, and return everything to factory spec.

Luckily I manged to get it though first time.

The fact that the copper did get it wrong meant the Transport guys were pretty good about it, I think.

I'm not sure what the consequences are regarding them taking pics of your car? Maybe they flag the number plate in the police database as a car that's been defected before? Means you might get pulled over more frequently, so they can check what's changed on the vehicle?

If you take photocopies of the manual - make sure you take the manual and the photocopies to a Justice of the Peace (JP) and get him to sign a form declaring the photocopies are a "True & Legal" copy of the original document.

That way the Police can accept them as genuine copies of pages from the owner's manual.
