hey guys i have a 1st gen 4g93t that's stock and i recently installed an oil pressure gauge so i'm just curious to know where my oil pressure should be at idle, wot after a hard run and so on, would greatly appreciate some info thanks.

mine was low at idle around 10 psi,
new pump and i get around 60 at idle cold,
drops back to about 40 hot

mine was fine and showing at 60psi while cold but drop to < 0~10psi when hot...

normal cruising around 3k rpm will show around > 30psi...

i am using an oil press meter unit from TAIWAN... doubt the reading thou... at least it shows me the oil pump is working fine when revving... ;)

i think its due to the cheap oil press set... price = quality... ^_^

it is very cheap in price... (so do the quality)... my purpose of installing it is just to keep in check whether the oil pump is running well...

just rebuilt the engine and changed the oil pump
(which is a 2nd hand unit due to it is almost impossible to find new "genuine" oil pump from mitsubishi in my country... the market is flooded with tonnes of 'replica' / fake low quality product...) :(

i dont really know about the clearance of the bearing...

am using 10w 40 semi synthetic engine oil... the reading at the aftermarket gauge showing around 0~10 psi when the engine is warm... however it depends... due to the hot weather in my country... the oil pressure tends to play around 0~2psi when am stuck in the traffic jam...

am also wondering whether it is the place where i mount the sensor (i add a T-adapter to the factory oil sensor area which is at the head...) dont really sure whether this is the problem as some of my friends do not have this problem...

Suddenly thought of 1 Question... regarding the factory oil indicator at the meter panel...
in my case... the led will be on for around half to 1 sec after my engine started

2psi is very very low at the stock sensor position.
It would be considered normal at the head though.

Something is not right.
Either your gauge is not accurate OR you are losing pressure somewhere.
Possibly try a thicker oil? maybe a 20-60 grade.
See if that helps.

I believe the theory is 10psi per 1000rpm.

Yeap... it shows 10psi per 1k rpm...
I'm not sure whether there is any losing of pressure... but I do very particular with any leakage n will solved it asap I detected it...

Maybe I should look for a sandwich adapter?
