Hey guys,

I've got a bit of a water leak from around the lower timing case and am thinking the water pump may need replacing. What is everyone using? Obviously there are a heap of remake 'factory replacements' available, but just wondering if there is a particular brand anyone would recommend?

I'll most likely go for a genuine Mitsubishi item but thought it was worth putting it out there, just in case there was another kind I should consider.

I use the Powermax version. They have worked fine. I have a spare new one here for $50 plus $10 post if you would be interested ?

preety sure mines a dayco which is the genuine oe replacement. the 4g93 dohc as found in protons will fit and i'm preety sure the sohc waterpump is the same aswell (the difference in dohc being an extra idle pulley bolt hole tapped in the head and the oil pump assembly/housing to accommodate the hydraulic auto tensioner) bar that difference in the head you could probably use an entire sohc bottom end assembly but i wouldn't try this.

the sohc and dohc blocks are from my experience the SAME. with the dohc in most cases having the oil squirters installed near the main bearings and a water fitting for the factory oil cooler/warmer tapped directly into the block near the oil filter.

A SOHC block can be used to rebuild a dohc engine
