There are lots of threads around. Search it. There is also a good right up on GVR4.org.

There are a couple of ways of doin it. Depends how in depth you want to go.

Why remove it? Is it broken? Aren't you selling the car anyway? Entarans right, if someone interstate buys it and needs to get it inspected, unless you replace the rear rack with a fixed replacement, it will be impossible to register unless you find a really stealthy way of removing it. (ie leaving all the lines in and disabling it internally somehow)

Because it fucking sucks

My point exactly..youre right tharak..its shithouse..and it feels dangerous....anyway..i remeber aurace saying something about bronze bushes that block something etc..

My mechanic blocked off all the hoses and made up a plate where the pump sat in the the diff housing. Steering is probably better in my opinion.

I guess if you got another 4ws setup you could do the mod as on galantvr4.org, you could retain the original lines to reverse it.

I want to get rid of it because i feel it effects the steering in a negative way..it feels shithouse on the highway..i can feel it interfering..and for some reson when the cars cold it feels worse...anyone know at what speed it becomes active?

Because if i block it off...i wan it to be in a neutral position off course.

Active at and above 52kmh.

If you think it feels shithouse, have it fucking serviced. When it's working properly you'd never be without it.

God i'm over listening to people whine about the 4ws. Go get a later model car or something.

Are you talking about merely bleeding it on a hoist and running it up to speed etc?

If every one is whining..it musnt be too good.
Its just another thing to go wrong im my opinion.

is the module in the left rear 1/4 panel to control the 4WS?

i have noticed recently some one has unpluged it in the past

what effect would this have?

4WS is purely mechanical. The module that you can see would be the ABS unit.

Yes, bleed it.

Check the linkages

Check the bushings

Check for play

Have it aligned.

Hell it might even work properly and you might enjoy it. It makes a damned noticeable difference to the handling of a vr4 and the guys I know who drive these things FAST love it. Gravel aside.
