Hey guys, I picked up a cc GSR with vr4 4g63t conversion about 6 months ago, been really happy with the car so far just noticed a few issues that are concerning me a bit and Im having a little trouble determining exactly what the problems are. Just wondering if i can get a little help. I apologize in advance if Im a little vague, not very clued up on everything yet but Im trying!

Being the young heavy footed idiot that I am I decided to launch the car a couple times from relatively high rpm (oh say about 6000rpm), I tried to do so with a little bit of mechanical sympathy but then again it is launching an awd lol. Anyway since then ive noticed a crunching sound in the rear end on decel from around 3000rpm, Especially when driving down hill. Kind of sounds like a bearing but not totally sure how to describe the sound.

My thoughts so far have been to try replacing the rear driveshafts but again im not 100% sure and don't want to go forking out for new ones if its not the problem. Also if it does turn out to be driveshafts does anyone know if its worth replacing them with evo items? or are they the same unit? And is there anywhere you can recommend to source them from?

Any help would be fantastic, love to hear from someone who really knows these cars as my mechanic is not totally familiar with them. I need to get back on the road soon its killing me! Thanks alot.

has it hada vr4 passanger side engine mount chopped and re welded? if so guarantee its out of its evo 1,2,3 engine alignment to shafts and the body and causing you drive shaft issue's!

my guess would be the rear diff has called it a day....or you have torn some of the bushes in the rear diff cradle and its moving around under decel. rear drive shafts are pretty much interchangeable between GSR and early evos unless you have a viscous lsd

It does have the Vr4 mounts, i'll have to check it against my mates 3 to see if they line up..
It may well be the diff but it doesn't clunk or jolt the car around at all, just makes that horrid noise and you can feel the grinding! Thanks for the help guys, guess I'll find out when I pull it apart! cheers.
