95 gsr boost issue

Hey guys, just got my gsr registered today, on the way to Qld transport and home the car was being weird, when I would accelerate from a stop it would hit 10psi at 3k rpm in all gears so I could hardly accelerate because I was forced to shift through to 5 just to do eighty then it would slowly pick up to 100, and if I tried to go past 100 it would just straight away hit 10psi and I would have to get off the accelerator otherwise the car felt like it would stall (when the psi is building it felt as though it was jerking me forwards in my seat like I had breaked) so Ive got no idea wtf is wrong lol. And then when I pulled into my driveway and it was idling the oil pressure was on like 40psi even tho it's normally on 80 ish at idle, I checked the oil and it's not low.

The car has:
Evo 2 intercooler and pipes
Hks ssqv bov, had a turbosmart one but it was corroded shut -_-
Magna tb, and intake ported to suit
Turbosmart boost tee
stage 2 power up from Brisbane dyno tuning (done in 1998 but I was told it was probly an anti fuel/ boost cut and a speed limiter removed)Don't really know but.
Aftermarket oil cooler/ filter relocation


I tried to turn the knob on the boost tee but it only got worse either way I turned it.
Please help, I'm gonna take it to my mechanic to have a look tomorrow but if it's an easy fix I'll defiantly try it :)

ile take a guess u mite have a dirty afm try cleaning it with afm cleaner or brake cleaner then resetting the battery.

yep they're the same!

i think i have the oppsite of your problemb i think mine free boosting!. i get 15 pound of boost. and if i do a bad thing and give it alil boot when it's cold have seen 17 pound. another nasty syptom is a very nasty and sudden miss. gota get in and check the wastegate
 
I just figured it out, just had another check of all the hoses this morning and the hose to the wastegate was off -_- missed it last night because it was dark lol

well i thought that was it but ive connected the hose and the drive to work was still doing the same thing, ill check the afm tonight and ill also replace that hose incase its split or something, it felt heaps hard so its probly brittle.

any other suggestions would be sweet thanks everyone
 
So I took the car to my mechanic today and he drove it and said it could very likely be the coil packs and the tps so he took it to a auto elec and they've given it back and said the coil packs are fine, it's defiantly the tps they recon, it's unplugged ATM and I drove it home, the jerking problem is fixed by having the tps unplugged so I've got another one Of those I can swap over and that should have the jerking sorted ( crosses fingers )

He also cleaned the afm as suggested but it still is retarded as described above, so I dont know what's wrong

He said the bigger magna tb could be messing with the airflow but it did run 100% for sometime with the magna tb and the evo cooler setup so I don't think it's that.
He replaced the hose for the wastegate actuator that i thought may have been damaged so it can't be that either.

Does anyone think there could be something wrong with the actuator that's it's like stuck open or closed, I'm not exactly sure how it works so I don't know how to check.

Please help me this is shitting me off so much, I just want to drive my new car properly :(
 
Hunting is where the idle goes up and down. Kinda like 1100 up to 2000 and down again on a regular basis.
 
Hey guys, gsr is all sweet now, I replaced the tps the idle stepper motor and the afm and it's all good now

Another question, what is safe boost for a gsr with stock nternals and stock turbo?
The gauge reads 16psi at full boost ATM is that ok?
 
16 pound should be fine just make sure your tuned for it cause mine will get to 17 and i think fuel cut kicks in = back fire = not good (mr tax man i need a tune!)
 
I'll Probs just turn it down a tad till I get a tune, the car has a "stage 2 power up" as it's written on the invoice from Brisbane tuning and turbo centre from 13.12.1999 so I called and asked what a stage 2 power up was and he said nfi it's to long ago to tell you but probs delete fuel cut, boost cut and speed limiter.

Does anyone know what it would actually be and is there anyway to find out?
