Hey guys. Recently this weather has been dreadful and majority of the time I drive around I have the air con on... It feels like I loose power to the wheels when it's on... And I only came across this problem today aswell where if I'm in first gear and I push the car abit it feels like the whole clutch is just slipping and the rev gauge just goes higher and higher without power to the wheels. I turned of my car and gave it a rest for about half an hour and I drove around again this time with aircon off and it felt so much better and first gear wasn't slipping at all. Anyone else has his problem?

I've always pulled it out to make more room in the engine bay, probably only have 10 days a year where I think it could be nice

benzo- ya need a boost scramble button, there always fun and it saves ya petrol, lol

Sounds like you have two seperate issues
- power loss with aircon on, see above, not much you can do about that, unless your compressor is doing something funny (read "soon to be very expensive!")
- clutch slip as you say "..and I push the car abit it feels like the whole clutch is just slipping and the rev gauge just goes higher and higher without power to the wheels."
You could do try a few tests to see if this is the case, such as;
- put it in 4th (or 5th) going up a hill and floor it, this may highlight issues without the need to rev it in 1st.
- park the car whilst iding, foot brake on hard, clutch in, 1st gear, engine idling, clutch out, see how quick the engine stops.

May, or may not, tell you something useful, but if there is no engine speed rise on the hill test and it just struggles (I am assuming a steep hill!) and it shuts down pretty well straight away on the idle test then I would argue that the clutch is good.

Rev gauge shouldn't go up if the car doesn't accelerate unless the clutch is slipping.
With aircon on if you hit it fully open throttle ECU turns of aircon at certain load so there shouldn't be any power lost.

As long as aircon is turned off the aircon clutch isn't engaged and the parasitic loss turning the free-spinning aircon pulley is very minimal.
I've had my aircon hooked up ever since I first built my car and have taken my engine to 8,250rpm and down the dragstrip.
BUT, the aircon has NEVER been turned on when lead-footing it because yes, it will suck up about 20hp I reckon, but worst of all if it were turned on, I dread that it would explode or seize if it were subjected to high rpm shifts :lol:

Still running stock boost man..............no boost controller fitted as yet. Funnily enough the first set of lights I turned up at after buying my HSGR a WRX pulled up behind, a slow take off and a build to second I could see him an inch off my rear bar.......he went to overtake and I floored second at 3500.........he was very pissed that a $2000 ebay POS could keep up.........worth every cent for me LMAO!
