Alternators

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

How many amps is your current Alt?
How big is your current battery?
Have you upgraded the "big 3" on your electrical system?

Sorry for the dumb question but what is the "big three" ?

I can guess alternator, bigger or lighter battery (relocate to boot maybe ?) but can't think of anythng for a third...

I was wondering also ^ haha

I can only think of higher capacity battery and cabling?

Done it myself. Plus an 8g cable from battery to 30A fused relay to my fuel pump cradle. The Walbro gets as much power to it as possible to help with increased flow demand.

The Big Three wiring upgrade
A good, cost-effective improvement is to perform the "Big Three" electrical upgrade. This will vastly improve your vehicle's electrical system, allowing more current to flow easier to all components. This upgrade replaces or augments three key cables in the electrical system with 1/0 or 4 gauge wires, the battery ground to chassis wire, the chassis to engine block wire, and the alternator plus to battery plus wire. This increases your electrical system's current flow capability, ensuring a more consistent voltage under varying demand conditions.

Here is my link to the bigger 140A alternator and info: http://www.4gtuner.com/topic/10127-evo00x-evolved-awd-coupe/page-29#entry279347
Included BA BF Falcon 140A Fusible link part number in pic (<$10.00 - Buy a spare for future use).
More pics show the added extra wire (2nd wire) I used to connect the alternator to the fusible link instead of one huge massive thick cable which would have been more difficult to fit in there. Still looks factory :)
Guys, always check the pics ACE ALTERNATORS use in their sale and compare it to yours.
Mine is for a GVR4 6-bolt engine and I checked the structure and alternator pulley for the rib design of the alternator belt before committing to the purchase.
More pics coming...
