So...I have another blown motor, possibly ring lands or rings, will know for sure on saturday when I strip it down, anyone not got anything to do feel free to come and lend a hand.
driving home, overheated, let it cool for around 45 minutes, started it up again and it started knocking, then died, now it's got no compression in all 4. I'm pretty sure it is rings or ring lands, previous owner had it rebuilt, however i think they used the stock pistons. there was a nice puddle of oil left on the road and on the bed of the tow truck
Baz - it was boiling when it had anti boil in it so at least 120-130, the gauge showed nothing because the wire broke that day. I don't know why it
overheated.
Johnson - this is my new one which was built by a mechanic for the previous owner.
Troy - thanks...
After pulling the head off tonight we have found that the head blew out between number 1&2 cylinders.
The plan now:-
Block
Moroso sump
knife edge crank
eagle rods
arias pistons
ARP head and main studs
ARP rod bolts
Cometic MLS head gasket
New oil pump
ACL race series bearings
delete balance shafts
new gaskets and seals all round
Head
BC stainless valves
BC valve springs and retainers
BC 280/280 cams
Fidanza adjustable cam gears
Other
Fidanza flywheel
exedy sports ceramic clutch
electric waterpump
remove 4WS
heavy duty front and rear sway bars
front and rear strut braces
new brake master cylinder
ECM link V3
Remove AC
innovate wideband o2
Enkei WRC tarmacs
freshen up gearbox and shifter mechanism
plazmaman intercooler piping kit.
we are going to be measuring everything, torquing every single bolt to spec, checking double checking and triple checking all clearances. I am not going to make a mistake with this motor.
will be looking for around 300hp at the wheels with the evo0 big 16g
