Okay hows this for fucked up.

At the end of my street its sometimes hard to get out, traffic both ways in a busy industrial/residential area.

I pulled out of my street 'kind of' infront of a guy on a bike, and proceeded to give it some stick in 1st and 2nd in my galant GSR, just to get away/make up for pulling out infront of him. I get down the road to a roundabout and the guy on the bike pulls up next to me, i'm thinking 'WTF' and it turns out its a cop! On an unmarked police bike!!!!

He asks me to pull over on the other side of the roundabout, which I promptly do. I get out, hand him my licence, he asks me WTF is up with the big ass cannon on the back of the car- I tell him i recently bought the car, and one of the first changes i'm going to make, is the cannon in the bin. He tells me to get back in the car and wait.

2 minutes pass and he comes back, hands me my licence, and says "there's going to be a ticket in the mail"

I say "what for?" and he says "speeding." I was like "but how fast was I going?" and then he cracked it and said "oh are you going to be like that? Okay then, you'll get a notice from the EPA too!"

I thought god damn this guy is a wanker, all I did was give it stick in 2nd, in a 50 zone, maybe hit 70, if that. Surely he couldnt have followed me and gauged my speed that fast?

Is this another 'try to scare him by saying there's a ticket in the mail' one?

Surely if he could have, he would have given me a ticket on the spot? He's a traffic cop??

thoughts??

i thought that they gave you the ticket there and then but once again vic cops ane f***ed int the head
did the copper give you a chance to explain what you were doing

na, he didnt, at all. I said I was sorry if he thought I did something wrong, and that was it

i bet you're wishing now that you didn't give it some gas, and instead, t-boned him

what a prick... i hope he has a shit weekend

I think they would have to have a reading from a radar to determine your speed, for it to hold up in court, I guess you don't wanna have to take it to court tho.

Take it to court, why should you pay a fine? He had no way of measuring your speed, as he was on a bike. If you explain what happened to the judge (don't mention you did 70 in a 50 zone) ....

i wouldnt worry about anything apart from a letter for EPA noise stuff.

As youve said, he has no proof of your speed, or any idea how fast you were actually going for that matter.

sleep easy :)

has ANYONE ever been told to recieve a speeding notice in the mail, and actually got one??

Ive had something similar dre..

My friends got caught speeding behind me (we were both speeding but he was behind and got caught) and the copper gave him his number and told ME to call the station the next day or else i'd get my car impounded (apparently they took down my numberplate). That was 6 months ago.

He's full of shit and I would have told him so and gotten his name, badge number and station. He has no way to determine your speed without some sort of radar or speedometer check. If you didnt do a burnout or anything that he witnessed as the obvious then it is only 'alleged' that you were speeding and they dont have a leg to stand on. If it goes to court you will win because they cant prove you were doing 5kmh over the limit or 40kmh over the limit - there's a huge difference in fines and penalties in between and they cant prove what speed you were doing so it would be thrown out of court. I would have told him to stop wasteing your time and ask him what did he do wrong to get demoted to a push-bike cop, or is it because he stinks so much that no one wants to be his partner?? The only thing he can do is give your details to the EPA and they may be in contact with you one day about bringing the car in for a noise test or something. I wouldnt worry about.

On another note, my Mrs and I have driven semi done up or normal cars for years and never had any trouble or hassle with the Police or pulled over for defect checks or anything. Today, only the 2nd day we've had her Pink CC Sedan with full EVO 3 bodykit and chrome wheels on the road, we were followed home by a police car til we pulled into the driveway. The Police car drove slowly passed our house and looked at us, drove to the end of the culdesac and slowly back up again then drove away. Now how da fuk can they say that they arent bias?

na bro, he was a traffic cop but on an unmarked police motorbike, with lights and sirens and radio, the whole lot.

looked like a normal police bike, but dark blue and without the big light pole on the back

dude those cop motor bikes have speed cameras on em. i have been done by em b4. but i cant see why he wouldnt have given u a ticket right there and then, doesnt make sense

so when cops say you will get a ticket in the mail..is it a scare tactic or are they serious?

coz just last night i made yet another illegal turn  cop had words to me, checked out my details and said 'you will probably recieve a fine in the mail' im not all that worried...but should i be?!

When they say 'it'll arrive in the mail' it can go either way. I've been told that and didnt receive anything, but a mate was told that and the Policeman later chased down his details via his numberplate, called his parents house and obtained a confirmed residential address to send the fine too  The way the Police work these days who knows what's legit and what's not in order to bring someone to justice. Just look at the recent events with Dr Haneef in QLD. IMO they'll give any tosser a badge these days because the community demands more police and the govt rushes them through training so the rookies fresh out of training are learning from rookies who graduated the year before  Dont get me wrong I have respect for members of the force who do their jobs well by the book and look after the community, but those who abuse their powers, bend the rules and let the power rush go to their heads arent doing anybody any justice and are doing nothing other than breeding contempt and animosity. Mention the word 'police' to the general population these days and instead of gaining respect for what was once an honourable profession, chances are the reaction you'd receive would be a negative one  There's little wonder why the little ones growing up these days have no respect for the law...

lets add to the "asshole ness" by police in the same days/hours

Dammo (green GSR/EVO) = EPA

Dan VR4 = EPA/Cannery

This story ends with:

Dre's GSR is currently rego'ed in NSW. EPA vic can't touch a car with NSW plates.

Cops can't give "on the spot" fines "in the mail". That's also illegal, you can only get a speeding fine in the mail if it's from a camera and therefore accompanied by a photo (on a database SOMEWHERE).

You're free and clear.

Ignore it.

Just a lil warning for ppl who take the Calder fwy in the mornings inbound to the city. There's always a unmarked cop bike (maroon) usually between 7-9am doing the rounds. But he usually pulls over other bikes. But have seen him pull over a few commodores..
Just my 2 cents.

I got fines sent to me in the mail before, they can do that, so if he said you will expect a fine in the mail it may be.
