it's a new year, i want to start gym..

i already do cardio stuff, jog around 3 times a week and swim once, but want to get started doing weights and so on.. was wondering if any of you guys go and if you could get me pointers or advice for a noob like me..

thanks

i have only meet u one olly but if u do 45 min cardio a day and then work on the light weights but hi reps. that will bring ur weight down and tone u. and when u have reach a good level start upping the weights and in the first 3 months u should c ur most grouth

i wouldt say im a gym junkie

but i try and stay fit do a weight work out low weights high reps more for tonning up and as for cardio i ride to and from work everyday and do alot of walking and jogging around the joint when im bored

but one thing i would have to say is eat correctly that is the main thing

i have 6 meals a day

7am breakfast
10am protien shake
1pm lunch
4pm protien shake
6pm dinner
9pm shake

and all my meals are low in carbs most of the time it is just salad with some tuna for me its lucky as i like tuna and i love sald so does not phase me eating same sort of stuff but yeah

i also try and drink 3L of water a day

weight weight weight :)
if u wanna get big, hit the gym, start ripping those muscles maximum weight as possible 4 a couple of months,
then u start toneing, do small weights but more reps,
u can use protein and all that, it works but its not good 4 u..
3 times a week hit it hard, u'll start 2 c good results

every thinks to start toning you should drop weight and do high reps..
you can still go heavy it all depends on how clean your diet is and what cardio you do!!

first off, before anyone could tell you what theoretically will work, or what has worked for them, you are going to have to answer iluszn's question of "What do you want to get out of it?"

some very wise words there

compound exercise?

atm i just want to tone up

to be more precise, i jog around 20 mins, 3 times a week. swimming for 45 mins if i get a chance to hit the pools.

other then that i dont do anything else.

as for diet, i guess you could say i eat healthy.. don't each too much junk food anymore cos i want to start gym.

if you want to tone up, do lighter weights with more reps...

something like 3 sets of 10-12 reps.

if you want to bulk up try heavier weights with 3 sets of 6-8 reps.

steroids is where its at
if you don't mind having a small willy that is

I suppose if you have a small one already, it wouldnt matter?
well as they say, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog

hahahahahahahaha

compound exercises are basically ones that will work multiple muscle groups at a time, where as isolation will tend to work one group only, with a greater emphasis on that group...

to start off you will want to be bumping up that cario to at least 30 minute cardio sessions... you dont really even get time to work up a sweat in 20 minutes (its really about your body, glucogen levels, and when your body sources alternative energy eg. dipping in to fat cells for energy)

whats your age/height/weight...

MMM to put in prospective

im 22 6ft 1 and weight 88kg what i did i was at 99kg of fatty goodness

droped and lost all my weight as i could got down to 84 then i started to tone up so now at a weight of 88kg but yeah pretty toned up

but everyone has different workouts

my training i do was based on when i was doing muay thai but has changed a bit due t ostopping it and not having to build up 1 leg HAHA

none the less all i can say is eat healthy and you will see better results

yeah i want to get down to around 80kg then start toning up! probably start gym once i go back to uni cos then i can sign up for uni gym which is way cheaper then joining a local one.

well, with swimming and jogging your already on the right course for toning up.

Do some resistance training.

as for steroids, I cant say to take them, but if you do, it depends on which you take to what happens to your body and side effects.

Keep your diet healthy. Eat regular meals, protein helps muscle growth and you will also need carbs if you want to put on some more muscle.

Flax Seed oil is apparently also good to help the cutting process. maybe do some research.

Best thing to do, join a gym , you get a trainer when you first start and they can put a program together for you.

If you like ill talk to a friend of mine. he is on a cutting diet and it worked wonders, ill see if i can get a copy for you.
