hey all looking for knowledge for 4g63t 7 bolt, being a broke tight arse bought jasma 272 cams and aerospeed cam gears and yea engine rebuilder in my town bit stumped didnt get much info with them so yea hows the way to set them up to start with. far as i can tell same lift and duration as the bc 272s and are oem spring and is at high revs do they hit so yea any and all info is good really need help cheers

When we installed my Camtech 272/272 cams and Skunk2 adjustable cam gears, we set everything up on the factory settings and let the dyno tuner adjust the cam gears accordingly.

well yea thats what i hoped happens but yea they want to take head off and measure lift and thats a extra 400 bucks alone, so rocker cover and timing belt covers stayed on with that i was told couldnt do it that way but that was the way i wanted to do it ?

well yea, your engine builder sounds like a idiot yea.

taking the head off to measure the lift is a stupid excuse to charge more. if he was that worried about valves smacking pistons he can compare the lift between the stock cams and the jasma cams, then work out the lift using the rocker ratio. standard valve to piston clearance is available online.

when changing cams and cam gears, the timing belt needs to be removed. unless you are super dodgy. yea.

yea well i ment take all that off to degereeing the cams in and yea any one had any problems with 272s with oem springs

well inlet 10.18 exhaust 9.66 how much tolerance is that ok or do i have to open my wallet

dose that mean you have had problems with oem springs with 272s

I changed to stiffer springs when I went with my 272 cams. I wasn't sure if I needed them or not but I wanted to be safe rather than sorry and I figured whilst the head was apart I might as well put the stiffer springs in.

a few people on this site run HKS/BC/Kelfords 272's with a stock rev limit and stock valve springs. BC used to state you can keep your stock springs with their 272's.

have a good search on this forum, you should be able to find what you are looking for.

I have 272's and upgraded springs. We installed them quite literally by pulling out factory items and putting in replacements. No changes whatsoever just made sure the cams went in the same way they came out (not very hard, line up the timing pin)

As for fine tune adjustment, I would suggest your dyno tuner does that.

It's generally accepted that you need upgraded springs - about $80 or so for a full set.

your springs will come in handy when your car is running 30psi :p
