Any one tried or heard of these?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

They brace the firewall/shock tower like an evo so the whole thing doesn't crack. I've seen rally guys use them, but not many do because regulations are pretty strict.

if your serious about body ridgidy then you would get yourself a cage.. full stop.. theres no point mucking around with bolt on parts.. get a cage welded in and you will notice how much stiffer the chassis is and how much more stable it is and easier to control..

u can deck out a car with over 10 different braces which cost about 2k and you wont get it near anywhere as nice as if you had a cage..

but that said.. unless its a real track car then it wouldnt matter :p

Most well made roll cages in rally cars have triangulated bars similar to that coming of the front legs, thru the firewall and to the strut tower, essentially doing the same thing only far better.

Could be a good add on if your not going the whole full cage thing.
Pretty cheap too.

as the others said, no substitute for a cage,

saying that i have driven a civic with them before and
after and could notice the car was a little firmer and more
direct in the front

They would help reduce the risk of the firewall cracking on CC Lancers, Protons, EVO's and GSR's. This is a common problem on GSR's and CC Coupes etc with a fair bit of power although the EVO's have the added plates welded into the engine bay against the strut towers and firewall for extra rigidity (and EVO 3 is seam welded). These Fender bars are a bloody good idea IMO. If a rollcage is only inside the cabin then it wont stop the firewall from being pulled out and pushed in and eventually cracking from the force of the wheels/strut moving in and out. Most of the strengthening in cars is low in the shell (chassis rails) and you still have flex in the upper half of the shell. If you can keep the upper strut towers from moving in/out from the firewall then its a good thing. Some dudes use 3 way strut bars that bolt to the centre of the firewall, some dudes use these fender bars. Having both would be good and reduce the risk :)

I might make one for my vr4!

have u guys ever looked at your cars when u jack them up from the front?
the whole front end bends...
