i called the mits dealer in cairns and talked to the guy in parts. Said i'd imported a evo 8 and wanted to put a 9 rear bar on and need a price. His reply was why did you buy one of those ? How do you go for parts. I nearly pissed myself laughing, a evo spare parts man wanting to where i get parts for my evo. hahaha:blink: i almost said the same place you get the ones for the evo 10 you have out the front:lol:

One thing I have learnt over the years is that 9.5/10 of the mitsi parts people don't know the difference between their assholes and their mouths. Thank god we have someone who knows what they are doing as a site sponsor!!!

Just to add to this regarding why Mitsu dealerships also cant dont order parts or even know how to or ask for a vin number ect.
I've posted this on other forums so copied and pasted it here:

OK I've touched on this before but No harm in posting again about it, as unless your a forum troll you may have missed my other posts regarding this issue.

The reason why they don't have that part number on their system is the the part number has never been ordered before on their online parts system data base, which is why they ask what or where did you get that part number from, and what car is it off do you have the vin number line ect. as that's how they are trained to look up part numbers by the powers that put that system in place.

Another reason is that most dealerships pay for a certain level of dealership packages which includes different levels of services & parts data base access, being that Mitsu never sold locally would be another reason why they wouldn't have grey import related part numbers active on their system or unless that dealership has paid for the premium dealership package which includes the grey import parts access.

Until that part number goes through the process of being ordered for the first time that the part number needs to be generated within their system for them to be able to see it or order it for that matter.

Now for what ever reason this takes time and is also time consuming for the major company to do also depends on if they think its viable for them to do or for politics weather they will do it or not.

You forget that due to enthusiasts like us that have been so tired of with trying to order parts numbers for our cars through dealerships and have been hitting walls, truth is we have access to these part numbers through the power of the net and car forums like this one, Now for what ever reason the OEM giants have wanted to control who sees what and what knowledge is available to consumers.

Well that was years ago and times and technical knowledge base's and internet and forums have expanded beyond their old grasp, but within ours

i just think it's sad how people are so short minded and look down on imports where the truth is in most cases they are superior to the stuff they release here, which is imported anyway but you cant tell them that .
