Hey just got back from mitsi today and found out my warrenty is void becuase there had been aftermarket modifications to the car...... I was like umm i was told it was stock anyways after much digging around i find out it had work done on it by TMR and came third in the Targa 08 ... Was just wondering if anyone knew this car and what had been done to it or who to speak to so i can suss out where im at.

Thanks in advanced Lochy

i didn't know Mal had sold it

yes i know the car, haven't seen Mal around for a while, his son in law is a member of MGEC & rarely seen also, i could probably find his contact details tho, Catford should have more details on the car, it was bought around the same time as his, i have some pics of it from Classic Adelaide 06 when it was used as a PR car, will try to post them later tonight

cheers
Paul

Woah thats crazy- you're saying that whoever sold you the car, didn't disclose its history?? I'd be a little bit ticked off, especially when it comes to warranty claims!

Yeah was some new guy at the shop and didn't know anything about the car.....so i was a bit shocked when the mitsi service guy said it had been modified....and yeah some contact details would be awesome so i know what has been done and i can figure out a place to do my servicing...kinda nice to know i inherited some racing history :p...... I spoke to Allan at TMR was great help and will prolly end up taking it to him however im sure given there rep it will be expensive....

thanks Lochy

TMR is not considered aftermarket modifications, Catford bought his TMR Club Spec brand new with all modifications, including a full roll cage from the dealer

Arr oks because the mitsi engie's must be a lil clueless because they didn't know what the fuel sample line was or the battery isolator and said that its not factory and the warranty is void.... may have to drop her in to Allan then but be nice to get a little bit of background on whats been done

What is the "warranty problem"?. Mitsi can only void the warranty if the problem is directly caused by the modification.

Well i was getting the engine error light come up and they plugged in the diag kit and said it was the idle controller motor, they replaced it light came back on, then they said it was the connector so they apparently fixed it, light came back on then they said i had aftermarket work done on the ecu and the isolator switch so its not covered under warrenty.....

What a cop out >.<, they could have reflashed the ecu with a stock map and that would take that out of the equation. But no, it's much easier to use it as an excuse.

True, it wouldnt be hard to do, but if you look at it from Mitsu's side, why do they need to fix something thats been apparantly modified?

I'd want to be paid to reflash an ecu if someone went and modified an ecu on their own accord which is now giving problems. Thats not a mitsu issue, its a user fault.

I was talking to the warranty guy at work for you and they said it still might be covered by TMR, but you will have to check with them, as long as the service history is up to scratch

nice E9 by the way
