Hey just bought my new lifters today anyone on the Gold Coast wanna help me install them?

ive even got the special tool just not too sure about the bleeding part

Is that the tool that lets you pull them out without taking the cams off?
I'd come help if I didn't leave my study to the last minute.
I'm keen to see how these tools work.
As for the bleeding part, easy as, just use a straightened paper clip or something and poke into the hole with it while you push down on the head thingy.
Sometimes you have to attack the hole at different angles, else it won't bleed properly. You might feel a click sorta thing.
If you push it up and down faster with the pin inside, more stuff comes out and you'll be able to push the head down with your fingers afterwards because you can compress the air inside. They prime them up with something that smells kinda like kero hey?
That was a dumb explanation I know, but it might be enough for you. :p
Have fun! :)

yeah thats the tool its got a red handle ive watched a few vids on youtube it doesnt look that hard but easier if someone was helping that has done it before lol

on these lifters you need to get all the oil out and then throw them in the motor, they will tick for a while whilst they pump up, but thats better than having too much oil and bending valves

The lifters are the johnson high performance one so i put them in oil let them fill up then bleed all the oil out then throw them in ?

you don't need to put them in oil, they come from the factory with an oil film etc that you need to get out of them before you put them in, so basically do what MDK87 has said. the way I bled mine was i put a split pin or similar inside it, turned it upside down and gave it a light tap on the ground/bench with a ball pein hammer that had electrical tape around the end of it. hope this makes sense

here , (02) 9769 1586 , call these guys and ask them hows the best way of doin it . . . i dont like the idea of putting things inside them or hitting them with hammers , sounds risky to me

Where's your sense of adventure? :)
Besides, there is no other way to do it and if you don't do it, you risk bending valves.

Just make sure that you put rags over EVERY oil drain hole in the head when you do it. The rockers have a nasty nack of finding any way of getting into the sump!
