1990 maroon aspec vr4 with 12 months rego.

Well this is the run down.
Took car to automotive workshop last week who recently pulled the head of to get reco'd.
Upon inspection found that there was a lack of oil supply to the head
Needs new valve guides but head is fine!
Also needs a new timing belt and tensioner
They are going to inspect oil pump/pressure when everythings back together

This is going to cost me more than the initial $1100 i thought so i am trying to work out if its worthwhile to sell the car with the stuff needing to be done or spend the money to get it fixed.
Please let me know what ur thoughts are or if there is any interest.
Need a car asap as i have just got my p's and am frekin desparate to drive my own car!
Cheers
Jamie

If you are happy with the car and intend on keeping it for a while, then I say fix it...

They are nice cars, and are pretty tough ... So I say keep it, and ask the mechanic to hurry up and fix it ...

Don't waste your time throwing it away for cheap.

Take it from someone who did it already.

You'll just end up buying another one for more.

Fix it, drive it, enjoy it. Best of luck :)

ALL cars cost money to fix. Doesn't matter how new or old, things break and in many cases where there isn't a forum like this one, repairs are EXTREMELY expensive.

Grab a 2nd hand head, get it pressure tested and faced and chuck it on. Will cost you **** all in comparison.

Couldn't have said it better myself ! So very true.

Yes "fun" is not quite the word i would use...maybe for the brief few seconds you actually get to drive it.....
The thing is, which really sucks is that someone is going to eventually buy my car that i have spent about $3500 on for next to nothing as it is still stock as a rock! so i wont be selling it for awhile. Only has minor stuff to get fixed ie. possible a tail shaft balance due to vibration and i recently got the alternator fixed.

so basicly i have fully reco'd nearly everything on the car such as
-New discs
-pads
-shockers
-head fully reco'd
-new valves
-valve guides
-gaskets
-oil pump
-water pump
-all pully's inc timimng belt
-new tensioners
-New balancers
-New driveshafts
-New tyres
-oils, fluids etc
and more....

So what do you think its worth now?
Not alot which sucks but it is a great car and i am appreciating it alot more since i can finally drive it.
