I went down yesterday as I hadn't been in a couple of years and I thought i'd check out the latest "trends".. Apart from the "show" cars with lots of money spent on interiors and stereo setups (TV screens in engine bays) etc, There was 1 car that really impressed me - a yellow R32 GTR which was on the dyno.
Three power runs, with the best one hitting 740KW's at 4 wheels!! 8)
AS the current record holder of that class (Black Supra 770KW's from memory) said "You gotta respect anything that puts out that sort of power", very true IMO. Gotta love huge power figures like that..

BTW, there were 2 EVO9's there but were locked up / bonnets closed so not too much info available..
cheers.

well, i can't answer that for you as it's not my car and point taken but dude, you gotta appreciate that sort of power no matter what you drive! 8)

not really .....

740kws all day every day and id begin to appreciate it

I'd reckon you need the "power" to be usable and the car to be tractable, or rather, tractable enough to put all that to the ground. Even in 1/4-mile, fast times are run by the cars that can "hook up" and not those that sit at the line spinning away[though it may look awesome, in the end said car doesn't go anywhere] Guess the trick is to both be able to put the power down, and put it down quicker than the next guy.

However, chances more than fair that the car/s mentioned above were built solely for the purpose of generating HUGE numbers on the dyno, and that's what they did[for the life of me I can't imagine what needed to be done to get an output like that!] So, their design envelope was met and met well; congratulations to both owners, because that's some phenomenal [and pretty insane] top-end!

What did their graphs look like BTW?

well said. Obviously these cars were in "power run" mode and were there solely for that purpose - to try and outdo the other in overall output.
Who knows if these cars are even driven on public roads (although registered) and to accomplish big output like that is pretty excciting stuff if your'e into cars and HP in general (which i'm assuming most members are).. as for the graphs, sorry man I didn't get to see them as we couldn't stay for too long.. :(

BTW, just hearing that monster of a turbo spooling up and the top end whistle sends chills down your spine!! AWESOME!! :D

respect.

powers like those require heaps of patience, custom one-off parts, and most imprtantly ..the balls to spend so much money!

Just found this re: the Supra.

"Not one to let the grass grow under his feet, Joe Signorelli has backed up his success on the drag strip (with his 6-second 2JZ powered Camry) with a potent Supra, built as a demo vehicle to showcase the considerable expertise and workmanship of GAS Motorsport.

The Supra (GAS 2JZ) pulls no punches, stomping out 1250 rear wheel hp at a screaming 10,000RPM. This mind-bending power comes courtesy of the massive Garrett GT47/88 turbo which crams air into the 2JZ at 45psi - all without the use of nitrous! Note that no fancy EBC is used here; boost is regulated by the venerable GFB Atomic boost controller, which Joe praises for its reliability and capability on such an engine.

Also from the GFB stable is the blow-off valve, a huge capacity SV45, which is regularly and repeatedly exposed to the onslaught of massive amounts of air every time the loud pedal is tickled.

This is the most powerful 2JZ in Australia , which is no idle claim. Joe is prepared to back up this statement and take on anyone who wants to challenge him.

... and on another note (and i know I aint the only one who thinks this), but whenever I see TV screens in totally rediculous places I cant help but have a chuckle to myself and go 'what a t0sser'. Sorry, its a bit of a pet hate of mine because its a total waste IMO and makes the car worse - too much pimpin going on and not enough sensible thinking  Why or how da fuk you gonna see a TV screen when it's:

1. In the engine bay - You have to have your car on to watch it. Add a bit of heat under the engine bay and it'll melt the unit in no time at all. What about washing down the engine bay? I dont see the sense in it let alone the longevity. Maybe they've been installed so the owner could play DIY DVD's and practice on the engine at the same time?
2. On the seat bum bit - Ya obviously aint gonna see it when ya ass is sitting on it now are you? Dont fart, or you'll fog up the screen!
3. Boot floors - On the lid yeah fair enough but not on the floor. You're going to have to stand above the boot with your head looking down at the screen to watch it. Not good for the back of your neck or when your snot drips out of your nose and onto your bling.
4. Interior floors - If your feet arent covering them, then you're gonna be bent over with your head between your legs just to see the screen. Now if we all could do that sort of thing without getting a bunged up neck, then we all would be making a lot of money selling videos on the internet.

lol EVO-00X

I have the latest zoom magazine with GAS-2JZ and they claim 847 kw @ 2.76 bar of boost. No 1/4 mile time though

everyone does up cars for different reasons.
some for show,
others for go.
some of those autosalon guys arent "enthusiasts", most of em are fully cashed up muzzas with nothing better to do with their drug money than look "fully sick" in their show cars.
The true enthusiast combines show + go etc. to get the right balance....
That supra is unbelievable, maximum respect to that bloke!! insane power, and gotta love that turbo hanging out..........good job. amazing power.

I know the bonnet is only for show on the 7, but ffs... like the car but the screen on the bonnet is way over the top and should get 'minus' points IMO. People shouldnt get extra points in shows just for the amount of TV screens installed in the car - its rediculous

LOl its like the queen streets drag BMW and the subs and TV screens in that, and i thought it was a drag car :p
