The home of unemployed bogans - Hervey bay,
Hi all, I tried to search the forum and the interweb but found no part numbers for any part in Australia. I have put a pair in already, but alas, they are the wrong ones. I couldn't get the circlip on, but continued anyway (bad) after pressing them in I tried to torque them down but the nut bottomed out before making contact with the hub assembly. I was sold these by a parts place who apparently cross referenced the part number etc. etc. Obviously the completely wrong part. I thought they looked up a nimbus ball joint, but I'm not 100% they got it right. There is no chance of a refund or credit as I had to cut them off with a grinder, last time I checked parts suppliers don't accept parts that have been cut in half, bummer.
Any help would be much appreciated, a part number would be awesome.

My guess is it's the same as UF Nimbus, BUT be sure to measure up and not chop it before you try and return them ;)

I rekon you'll have trouble finding them by the part number cause those are an OEM number and you would be better off trying to find them by asking you local parts dealer, if no luck quote one from mitsubishi and maybe even source one from that site i linked if they're too much.

My moneys on them being the same as the UF nimbus cause they do say. MITSUBISHI Chariot N11, 13, 21, 23, 28, 33, 34W. Repco definitely have listings for all RVR and my local Autopro even have a listing for a '97 RVR although still can't get alot of parts...

According to the ASA there is no separate part number, you have to buy the whole suspension arm as the bearings are pressed in

MB945896 Arm Assy, front suspension lower, RH
MB945895 Arm Assy, front suspension lower, LH

Below is price and availability from Amayama Trading for the LH one. The RH one is the same price and availability. Freight would probably be a killer.

Mitsubishi MB945895 ARM, SUSPENSION $98.41, 20 - 30 Days from UAE Delays possible: 35%
Mitsubishi MB945895 ARM, SUSPENSION $163.19 10 Days from Japan Delays possible: 5%

bearings? most ball joints are pressed in. They'd definitely be on another model car, it's a matter of someone pulling one out and going to compare it at an auto parts dealer with their other mitsubishi ball joints and finally hit this one on the head. That's what I'd do anyway.

The OEM numbers you have quoted there are for the ball joint NOT for the whole suspension arm. Please read the link I have put in above and see that the same numbers for the part you have described as the control arm are actually just the ball joint numbers.

Hello topic, long time no see LOL

Well, to update my situation, I ordered some from a parts place and when the parts arrived I took my whole hub assembly down to check the shaft diameter and length of the thread, it seems they got it wrong again as the part was the

same as the one I had first! :fuuuuu: I couldn't be arsed atm, too busy buying other parts.

I will get it sorted, might have to go to repco, they recon they have the parts there @ $79 each.

If all else fails, I'll weld the bloody wheels on and put in a right and left brake and drive it like a bobcat.

OK i am getting old and said bearing when I meant ball joint. (It's still a type of bearing though)

Good link if you want 1000 of them. If you type these part numbers into the ASA it comes up with the whole suspension arm, not just the ball joint.
I guess they mean the ball joints fit into the suspension arms with those numbers?

The drawing in this link is exactly the same as the Mitsi ASA and as you see it doesn't show the ball joint as a separate item.
The cover, snap ring and nut can be separate items, but not the ball joint.
The part number is actually for the whole lower arm and is for the N21WG, N23WG and N28WG

I am sure a ball joint in the right size is available somewhere but as you said you probably need to press one out and take it along for measuring.

This I found after a short google search. I wonder if they have an Australian supplier? I have sent them an email to find out.

http://www.moogproducts.com/en-global/Pages/ecatalogue.aspx?PartSearch/en/Moog/pc#

Their part number MI-BJ-10371 seems to be common to lots of Mitsubishi and Hyundai.
It fits many Lancers, space runner, space star, space wagon so possibly an RVR as well??

I guess more googling is needed to find something closer to home.

They are probably the ones that are close, I've looked through boxes of the things looking for a match. :fuuuuu: I'm going to re-engineer a Nimbus ball joint, they are $35ea. All I have to do is tap the thread down a bit more and possibly put a

locating groove in thewide part of the joint. They are almost a perfect fit anyway. Stay tuned, I will make a jig for it and solve this pain in the arse problem for all us RVR guys who need ball joints. I can't justify another $600 when the

single part itself is so inexpensive. I'll post up some pics when I have it sorted. $70 in ball joints, $300 in therapy, still cheaper

Far out, a ball joint!

When i look here

http://www.amazon.com/Mb831555-Joint-Front-Lower-Mitsubishi/dp/B00FFHQTI0#productDetails

The ad quite clearly shows a ball joint and even says it's a ball joint and has a diagram of the control arm and where it is positioned.

When you type in any of the part numbers for it, google just shows that it's a part number for a control arm! grrrr

The link I posted from baifi isn't working for me atm which is really annoying but i can see the header on google.

SO

The part number in the Amazon link in this post is one of the 3 baifi ones listed aswell. I think I am right in assuming that the part numbers MB945895 and MB945896 are for the control arms and the other part number listed MB831555 is actually the number for the ball joint, which can obviously be pressed in and out and is replaceable without replacing the entire control arm.

phew, that was like having a big stomach cramp for a few hours and thinking I'm gonna pass out until I finally let go of a ripping fart that that stinks nearly as much as mitsubishi does for making it so hard to replace such a common part!

In saying all this, yes I assume that's what they mean Penngwyne

Adding to the confusion of all this is that when i type this part number into google Mb831555, some people are getting the ball joint,

eg;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BALL-JOINT-FRONT-LOWER-ARM-MITSUBISHI-SPACE-WAGON-GRANDIS-1992-2000-MB831555-/261298640326?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd69cd5c6

and some of the results are something like this;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Plymouth-Set-2-Front-Lower-Control-Arms-L-R-Genuine-MB-831555-MB-831556-/350750852425?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item51aa614549

which in this case have a part number of -MB-831555 and -MB-831556.....

I'd say you'd just have to make sure you're getting the right part by looking at a diagram of what you are buying first but being safe that at least you have the right part number!
