FS: *Brand New* Bendix Heavy Duty Brake Pads

I bought these brand new for my GSR.
Never made it onto the GSR as I bought the wrong ones.
Brand new never used only taken out of plastic and then realised they were the wrong ones.
Still in box.

Chasing $50, I paid almost double.

OK Im taking this FS ad and turning it into a tech discussion for ALL 1.8L GSR owners out there with STOCK brakes still!
What he says above is true and here is an email I have sent out to just one manufacturer AMPC (Superstop) :

Hi there.

Did your company used to be called AMPC?

I have here 2 boxes of AMPC branded part number DB1277SS (Super Stop) brake pads that I bought from Supercheap Auto (SCA) about 3 years ago.
After a search I noticed that SCA now sells “SuperStop” Branded brake pads.
Originally I bought 2 boxes of the DB1277SS pads for my Lancer GSR 4wd 1.8L Turbo as they were on a good special and after some months going by, I decided to finally fit them.
They did not fit! When I searched for the model of my car on some well known brake pad company’s websites, I noticed that there were 2 listings for the lancer GSR in my year range. (The lancer GSR was manufactured from 1992-1996, mine being 1993) One was listed as CC GSR Turbo 1.8 (DB1249) and the other one was CC 4WD GSR 1.8 (DB1277). The DB1277 Does not fit my car and there is only 1 make of that car in Australia, released by Mitsubishi Motors and it is the Lancer GSR 4WD 1.8L Turbo.

Why am I emailing you about it? Well firstly I want to sell them on eBay to recoup my losses(considering 3 years past isn’t going to get me my money back from SCA and I have upgraded my brakes now to Evolution3 items) and make sure they are listed correctly for the next person. Secondly all I really want to achieve is for all of the companies to realise their mistake and redo the product numbering and subsequent pictures/information so customers get he right pad for their car. The right description for the Australian delivered Lancer GSR is also another consideration.

I have some pictures taken of the DB1277 (SS) pads and comparison shots of my original brakes and pads attached above.

Kind regards

Dane Marsh
Ph Nos....blah blah...

Anyone else bought this part number and never fitted?

Got this response this morning:

Hi Dane, the superstop brake pad brand has absolutely nothing to do with our company. In fact it has been an on going battle about the naming rights. The catalogues we use are very accurate and this is not an issue for us. If you want to list them on eBay just mention lancer only or provide the pictures so people can confirm they are correct before purchasing.

So no catalogue issue huh? <_<

OK , so what I need now is people with STOCK GSR calipers, BOTH series 1 and series 2 gsr's, to pull a set of front brake pads out and take pictures and measurements from the inner slots (should be 105mm for the DB1277 part number). If you get 128mm you have the DB1249 part number pads and I want to know about it!

My aim is to see if both series 1 and 2 gsrs had the same set of calipers and/or pads to fix this part number issue once and for all.

So get to work! :p

Thanks

i can confirm proton satria gti xls and gti use the dba1249. pads i am told these are the same as gsr. these are the pads i installed last week when i performed a disk conversion.

the bendix site lists the pads you need as cb 1.6 dohc grs

the 1277 pads are infact for a standard cc lancer sedan or coupe but will also fit satria. up to xls which uses the larger brakes

They why does this happen then?

http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue/9220

I quote "Fits Mitsubishi Lancer CC, 4WD GSR 1.8 Apr 1993 - Jul 1996"

My whole point of the exercise is WHY do they list 2 types of GSR brakes CC GSR 4WD 1.8L AND CC GSR Turbo in their listing as we all know that it should be in fact listed as one under the banner "CC GSR 4WD 1.8L Turbo" THAT would solve the problem AND make sure the right pad number matches! :fuuuuu:

Ill tell you how to solve the problem:

1. Buy a pair of twin pots off a verada/evo

2. Buy EBC greens.

3. Buy larger discs.

4. Brake like a champ!

But seriously, both s1 & 2 gsrs share the same size calipers and rotors. how can the pads be different?

^^^ Or you can just go to an auto parts supplier that knows what they're doing.
You say what car you got and what part you want - they get the correct part - you pay them.

Sigh...... evopwr and Thirteen, re-read my first post, I already HAVE Evo twin pots AND when they look them up there is 2 numbers!
DB1277 and DB1249, the latter being the right code and part number! ( I know that now but why would I want these pads now after a brake upgrade?)

These were pads I bought on sale 3 years ago.

The issues I have with the product numbering are above.
I dont know why they have listed 2 weird descriptions of a gsr with 2 different pads.
I just wanted to see if for some fucked up reason the 2 different series had 2 different front calipers....
All I want at the end of the day is for people to but the right pads DB1249 and 2 the brake companies to change the description and have the DB1249 number for "CC Lancer GSR 4WD 1.8L Turbo"
How fucking hard is it for them to do that I wonder

Now...who wants to buy them pads :p

i went through the same issue about brake pads a year ago

Yeah how fucked was it!!!!!

Wasn't having a go at your post mate, just saying that buying parts shouldn't be the pain in the ass some places make it.
