Hey 4gTuners!!

My names Mac and i'm ffrom South-East suburbs of Melb (Keysborough). I'm 18 and have only been driving since May, and i have a big passion for cars
I had an N/A S15 in Pewter, but i wanted a turbo and a 4door car, so what more better than an Evolution?!
Recently advertised my car for sale, and it's pretty much sold, waiting on the cash to come in fule before i can go purchase the Evo VII GSR i've been eyeing, B)
Decided to go for a Evo VII GSR as it was within my budget and yeah!! I should be getting it in a week or two. :D

Catchya 'round 4gtuners!

welcome mate. 18 yrs old with a turbo car?
7's are nice.. good luck with it...

Thanks guys.

TMAK - Yep, i've been driving since i was 17... (yeah very rebel of myself) haha!
Yep, selling off my non-turbo s15. I'm really tall so i wanted to upgrade to a bigger car as well, so .. I decided to go a 7 because as stated, it was in my budget.
It's risky on my P's but willing to take the risk after a lot of thought and consideration. :)

haha you rebel you :)

Rebel yes, but i'll be a safe driver. I promise.

Welcome, just don't be a hero in it. They are good cars, but they won't make you invincible.

Yeah cheers mate, i know. Thats why i was kind of hesitant to say my age. <_< I've thought about it thoroughly enough and i'll be responsible, i'm not like those irresponble stupid drivers, i can reassure you

You won't be able to insure it will you? Being illegal to actually drive. How does this law work anyway?

Welcome mate.
You're pretty keen :) As stated, dont do anything stupid.
VII's are awesome. Boost Controller, Exhaust, Fuel Pump and a Reflash will free up quite a few kw's.

You can insure it, i'm pretty sure.. It's just very expensive. My mates driving a wrx sti on his P's and his insured as well as the car being under his name.

Yep, cheers mate. Yep, planning to get a boost controller sometime, not sure which one to go for though, Greddy Profec II Boost Controller? Still looking around to see where i should get a reflash as well, leaning towards status tuning, or techsports.

Hopefully i'll see some of you guys on the road once i get it!

They'll take your money but if you have am accident, will they pay it out?

You have to be careful with some of these insurance companies.

I'd personally ask a few questions before you commit. Better to know now.

I think I'm getting old! Lol

you can insure and drive legally if you got exemption, ie. work related (v8 utes come into mind)
but can't drive outside out of work hours or some bs?

how ever if you get cought speeding or what ever, still get 7 points + $2k fine or what ever it is now.

Apparently my friends 'wrx' is willing to be paid out, but i'm not sure with which company.
Oh well, thanks for the heads up champ

Yeah, i don't think you can get an exemption for an Evo though.
At the moment, getting caught driving turbo is 3 points + 275$ fine.

if your in Vic and have a family member with a bussiness , you can say its the only car that can be provided and you have to drive it to work so it always gets past on the exemption, but get ready to get pulled over alot and you will have to keep the car pretty RWC and not to low etc

welcome BTW :D

Wow, thats an awesome excuse!
Is the exemption process long and difficult? I was thinking about getting an exemption. I've picked up the Evo VII now so yeah :D .. I haven't been pulled over yet, but it is under my name now.

I'd say leave it stock and learn how to actually drive the car till you off your P's. AWD car can bite you int he ass coz they grip so well and you get balls of steel.
If i had a car with any power when i was on my P's it would now be a dent in a power poll.
A lot of guys with evo's take them to the race track and write them off as they give the driver so much confidence and when you do loose it you going real fast. Same on the street.

Your going to thrash it so at least don't give yourself too much power to play with, and learn where the limit is.

Other than that congrats on the nice car!

Oh and if i were you id take it out of your name, if you want to be a mad kernt and drive it. lol
I dunno about where you are, but in WA the cops drive around with the rookie or passenger punching in plates and some of the new cars have cameras that pick up plates. I was driving my mates car and, at the lights they must have punched the plate in and randomly they barged across to get behind me all of a sudden, pulled me up strait away, as they saw on the computer it was registered to an unlicensed driver, my mate. Checked my license and then drove off no questions asked.

If they see a P plate shouldn't be driving the car they will pull it up to see who is driving. Then get out the KY and bend over.

Yeah, cheers for the advice mate.
Cars pretty much stock, i'm happy with the way it is! You don't need to worry about this one ending up in a right off, i won't be tracking it or anything. :D

I don't think they punch your rego and stuff around Vic here. VICROADS doesn't really care what cars in your name, its just if cops bust me then yeah.. My own fault/responsibility. I might try get the 'exemption' though, as it'll make it easier driving around. I think its just all chance down here, based on how you drive and the cops you deal with and are on patrol.

Here's 2 images of the evo

Welcome to the forum.
After hanging around the forums you going to want to mods the hell out of it anyway lol, but at least do it in stages so you enjoy it and learn to drive it along the way.
