What is the biggest intercooler you have seen fitted to a j-spec vr4 and what mods if any were done to make it fit? Oh and did it fit completely behind the front bar?

Again, what's the point? You're restricting flow to your radiator and making your intake more laggy.

Not to mention you'll have to relocate your factory oil cooler.

Go a water to air like baz, there is a Proton Gti with a 2g Eclipse conversion running one up here. Best set up going around in my opinion. Very short inlet track = less lag.

Trubo kicks in at 2400-2600 so i really am not worried about lag. All i want is to amke it so you cant see the silicon joins thourhg the grill.

speak to barry-eng,
he has a cooler/radiator set up (for sale) where the inlet and outlet on the cooler are at the back of the end tanks.
i have this type of set up too, but the inlet/outlet are only 2 inches.
