hey guys i installed the e-boost boost controller on the evo today... i have 2 settings for it... 1 stage is 14.5 psi, 2nd stage is 18psi...

when i run 18psi, it boosts up to 18, then drops down to 10... whats the deal with that... stage 1 i have no probs with just stage 2.... is it to do with the settings on the boost controller, or would this be a boost leak related...

just thought i would ask...

so it boosts to 18psi then drops to 10psi n stays on it till i change gear

Apart from the obvious thing being the controller not set up correctly...(If the duty cycles are way off for the 18psi setting it could possibly bleed back.)

Id look at.

1.-Is the Blow off valve leaking?..causing the system to just recirculate (if its plumback) or just lose (if its vented) the air..thus its not going into the motor and your losing boost. It may be ok at 1 bar but leak at 18 psi.

2.-Is the wastegate actuator/rod doing its job properly..check it for function..no bent rods or getting jammed up/staying open...

What id do is fit a manual bleed reg and see if you can run 18 psi no probs on that..if it holds ok it would mean the electronic controller isnt working/setup properly. This would eliminate it being a mechanical issue. Then you can turn your atention to the boost controller and getting it sorted out.

nop its not spiking... no it dont boost cut what so ever... it was fine when i had it tuned on 18.3 psi... now i noticed its cutting the boost n going back down to 10psi... so its prob more like the boost settings like its not holding boost

Your answer lies here buddy..give it a go an let me know what happens.

Ditto.

I also think that have a look at the BOV, are you running the stock valve?
If you are they dont like anything over 1 bar.
My car had boost problems a while back and it was the OEM BOV leaking anything over 1 bar, was acting like a wastegate.
The best way to tell is to block it off OR Reverse fit the Valve.
Good luck with it mate.

i think i have kind've the same problem.. coz i used to get up to about 14-15psi.. but recently im only getting about 12-13 .. and although its only a couple of psi.. i can feel a decrease in power...

how do i block off the stock bov? what do i have to do/use??

EDIT: and where is it??

I know on a VR4 apparently reversing it will block it..
Or just get a piece of flat plate steel cut to approximate size and drill 2 holes for the flange and bolt it on..use some gasket glue like locite 515 or a paper gasket.

Does the boost bleed rapidly above 5000rpm?
If it does then its very likely to be the blow off valve.

Lee did you at one point have a bent actuator rod? Which held your boost back as well..
Or was that someone else..

A mate of mine seen your car for sale on boost..couldnt keep him from drooling... GL with it.

Hey buddy, Yeah I also had a bent actuator rod when I 1st brought the car a while back now, and later I found out that the BOV was leaking also when I tried to put the boost up after the rebuild.

Thanks mate, I have a few people interested, But Still no sale as yet, I SO want to keep this car :!:

That boost controller has a factory set over boost setting.
Maybe that should be raised to 22psi or somthing.
Its all in the manuel.

yeah i think its to do with the boost controller setup... cause i put a bov on, n when it hits 18psi it drops back to stock... but on setting 1 thats on 14psi, n that works fine... does not drop to stock, holds its boost...
