Does anyone have a gsr ecu I can borrow just to figure out if that's the problem with my car? has to be in Sydney area

Yep got one if you want it mate. Been for sale for ages so may as well loan it out to help.
Let me know if you want to grab it one day this week or something.

before you do the swap. WARNING

are your fans controlled by the ECU?....to check that see if there is a temp switch in the bottom drivers side of the radiator.

If that is present it wont matter what ecu you install. If it isnt and you put in and ecu from a series one GSR where the fans are controlled from said temp swithch..... It wont switch you fans one = overheated engine.

All the alloy ones ive seen don't have a bung on the bottom for a thermo fan switch, so I would say no

^ just because the radiator he bought doesnt have the bung, doesnt mean his car has the fan controlled by temp sender in thermostat !!
lol.

Isn't the switch run in the top radiator hose?
The ecu I have does run the thermo fans FYI Romeo.

I cant quite recall, but I have it written down.
If you look at your ecu board, it will have maybe some missing ic drivers. These switch to earth to power the various things, like fuel pump, egr, fans, isc (x2), carbon canister, boost solonoid, etc.
I have a list of what ones do what, so a pic of a board and I can tell what features it will have.

I dont think if I add the parts it will add the features.

i guess once the car starts ill let it run till the fans come on and if they don't i know why
Have a look at the wiring diagram. I think if you earth out the (green/black) fan wire, the fan will turn on. Check for 12v at the ecu fan wire on the harness side.
If you look at my thread on idle issues, you can test the driver ic for fan control with the same measurements. I think evo-oox posted the measurements for the driver when fitted to the board.

Or if it seems stuffed, you can send it to me for new caps, and I can socket it, put my ecmlink chip in and test your fans as ecmlink has a 'turn fans on'.
Can test and change driver ic if it needs it.

You need a good one of these↑ in ic109.
If you short to earth green/black pin6 this will trigger the radiator fan.
Also you can rip the fan relay out and bridge the big pins to test the fans. They should run with key on.
I have a relay with the cover removed and can just press the top contact down.

I was referring to the alloy radiator

I have a few gsr and Evo ecus here if u can't find any

My statement still stands no matter what the radiator is made of...
Just because it doesnt have the bung means fuck all in relation to which ecu he has / how his fans turn on.

Actually it does. Even Brian explained it

"If that is present it wont matter what ecu you install. If it isnt and you put in and ecu from a series one GSR where the fans are controlled from said temp swithch..... It wont switch you fans one = overheated engine."

You even agreed to it
