Hey guys,

Today I discovered my engine was tilted to a side by 1 or 2 cm off. Then i had a look at my engine mount next to the cam gears and there are suppose to be 3 bolts secured to the engine hanger but only 1 is secured and the other 2 bolts are snapped off

Well I'm going to stop driving the car, is there a quick fix to replace those bolts? I was thinking jack up the engine from the bottom then drill out rest of the 2 bolts stuck on the hanger or the engine gotta be out to do this, i might buy an engine crane if i have to :( if I do take it to a mechanic to replace those bolts how much will i get charge?

I've attached a few pics...please take a look.

From what I can see in the pics, you might be lucky enough to just remove the mount from chassis and IF the bolts are sticking out enough on engine side of mount, to grab hold of with vice grips or similar and remove the broken bit...either way you shouldnt have to remove engine to sort that out.
With the right tools its a pretty easy fix.....

I hope so, hopefully i can use a vice grip to grab and undo them :(

i don't know why the bolts snapped off, can i use some normal bolts from supercheaps replace them or need some high tensil bolts?

i like these style of remover. fairly compact too. but looking at your pics, i dunno if there is much to grab on too, if you lucky they wont be that tight. i got some gsr ones, ie. the 2 studs and 1 bolt, they appear to be a similar setup. you are welcome to them if they will suit. i in kenwick but cant dig them out till friday.

i only see one snapped off bolt.

the two outter "bolts" are studs, which can be removed from the engine mount bracket on the motor the same way you normally remove studs (two nuts tightened onto each other).

the studs look fine apart from the one in the second photo looks like it has "backed out" of the engine mount bracket, so just reseating the stud might solve that.

Its actually 2 snapped off; 1 outer stud that i'm lifting up on 2nd picture but it wont come off and the other hole is empty as I've taken the broken bolt out.

I think its pretty tight spot to use the Lisle Stud Remover so cross finger for tomorrow morning oO

well thats fucked then. i wouldnt use any generic bolts. i know KE magna's share a similar engine mount, perhaps you could get the studs from that.

I spent a few hours this morning getting the broken bolt/stud out, I should have used the easy out extractor kit. In the meant time I unscrewed the other stud, it seem to be bend, and found out the mount insert in urgent need of replacement. Oh yerh how can I get the insert out of the mount? I tried to hammer the out of it, still stuck inside.

Let me know where did you guys buy your engine mount insert, and I had a look around for the insert, studs and bolts no one seems to have them ;) no driving for a while!

I chiseled the rubber and interfernce fit mount casing out of mine, then installed prothane mounts i brought from the US.

are you going to change the timing belt now all those drill shards have made their way down the timing cover?

Got a link to your prothane mounts? Cant wait to get the car back on the road...

i was being careful getting those broken bits out, those drill shards didn't get much inside the timing covers, i used a magnet while drilling them out. Should be ok... ahhh where can I get my hands on those studs and bolt, no1 stock them!!

fill the mount with sikaflex for now. or if you want to get the insert out, there is a hole on the edge of the mount, put a pin/bolt in there and beat it with a hammer until the insert collapses and then it will fall out. press new one in
i home on friday if you want bolts and studs, and i in kenwick
