hey folks,

Yesterday my car started to make a funny noise like a idle pulley was loose. So today I was driving really gingerly and this arvo it started to die idling.

I also could not go over about 2100 RPM and it had trouble changing through the gears (auto) maybe cause of the rpm.

So got it home just! Whats everyon's Diagnosis I thought that if it was the idler/ belt it could drop the timing which would stop the car completely but maybe it is just in the early stages any thoughts and what suggestions would u make on fixing!

Had Lorry over he thinks it might be Rockers!

Wont know fully until head comes off.

You should be able to pull the rocker cover off to check if a rocker arm is broken!

yer you were in queensland id lend you my snap on visual insepction camera works a treat for looking inside things with out the component being pulling apart

usuallly tps or speedo drive causes an auto too have dramas shifting gears i learnt that in tafe for autos

maybe take plugs out and check any metal on the tip of the plug or at least have a look at the condition of the spark plugs

OK head off now what!

Ok head came off but no loose bits.
However cylinder closest the Timing belt was full of Oil (Lets call it no 1)!
Cylinder 2 was dry
Cylinder 3 was just right
Cylinder 4 was like it had never been used.

Timing belt buggered but!

Check photos give me your opionions.

Timing belt

Yeah I know!

It was ment to of been changed at 120k But seems that it may not of been. Lucky This other problem has occured I reckon a broken Timing belt whilst driving would be a lot worse!

Confirmed I aint moving!

Yep seems that timing belt is a result of my passionate Launches!

Seems I have jumped a couple of cogs on the timing belt putting my timing way out.

When we lined up the timing marks on the pulleys the timing mark below was out by about 4 inches opps!

A new timing belt is needed and re-tune! could be worse could of lost a piston or head :).

Hmm! this could be my chance to upgrade to a stroker

:Special thanks to John at Wilson carby service for his help and of course as always Our resident bored metal craftsman Jerome!

Aint moving

At this stage it does not seem that I have done any other damage!

Advice needed:

Should get myself better set of pulley's and better than stock belt?? What would be the benefit? if any.

if you get a better then stock belt theres no extra benifits sure it might be a tad bit stronger but youll still have to change it at the same intervals
