G'day all,
Just wondering if anyone knows what the middle button on the centre console (above the air con vents and in between the hazard and the rear demister button) could have been used for in an Evo 2?

I was working on the Auto Air-con computer to replace some bulbs and noticed there was a random plug with five wires coming out of it without a home!

I'm a little curious as to what this could possibly be for. My guess is an option of some kind and my guess would be cruise control or the air purifier option which I have seen some cars with...

Any idea's?????

Cheers,
Chris

Yeah Deano it is a fixed blank but he wants to kno what switch does go there. Like the two blanks to the left of the console on GSR's etc are the fog lamp switches on a EVO and the blank under the park brake on GSR's etc is where the intercooler water spray switch goes on an EVO. I don't think they just put blanks in the dash for just in case, usually there is an option or a control for a particular model.

Yeah I know the plug you are talking about. The EVO II engine and interior looms I installed into a mate's GSR over the weekend had the same orphan plug living with the hazard and demister plugs at the top vent and I said to myself 'now I used to know wtf this was for a while back, but fuk me I forget atm' lol. Cause we're both running climate control now I doubted that it was for the stock clock or stock fan control unit. I'll check my coupe to see what I did with it.

sorry to jump in but when I push my front fog light button the parker lights come on? does this work the same in any others people evos?

I use it through tunnels and parking etc

Sivart - Yep, mine do the same thing when I hit the front fog light button...

Dougmo - that was a possibility, but the fog light switches (both front and rear) are on the right hand side of the steering wheel, like on my car, so I ruled that out.

I first thought it was just a blank button like every other car has, but there is an orphan plug (like what EVO -00X was saying) that could only fit there.

Secondly, the loom is fairly specific to Evo, if I'm not mistaken, so I am assuming it may have been an option and one time.

I have seen a driving light option available in a dealer option brochure and that may be another possible option...

Liberoz -mate, how about some suggestions here?? Cruise Control???

I'm lost as to what the hell it could be, I remember this same issue popping its head up some 5-6 years back and I still don't think we got to the bottom of what it was for.

Couldnt see the same plug on my coup's EIII wiring loom this morning. Therefore the plug must have only been on the EVO II as I definitely seen it on my mates EVO II loom on the weekend. I'll run a multimeter on the plug this weekend to find out what it might be... perhaps its the lighting and power for the factory triple gauge setup? Havent seen the wiring for one of those yet?

No definitely not the factory triple gauge set has a bridging loom and jumps off the radio plug so we can rule that one out.

It can't be that either as my car has the triple gauge set and all the wiring for that is down near the stereo...

damn would have been a nice thing to have!

Completely agree.

I use Cruise control in my liberty EVERYWHERE, and it has saved me at least one or two of those slightly-over speeding fines. You know the ones where you actually look at the road, instead of watching your speedo and bang, 4km/h over and you are dicing with death! ;)
