I just got rid of the cruise control and boy does the throttle pedal feel waay better!
I used the cable from a SE Galant, fits perfectly. 2 bolts that are under the bracket that holds up all the cruise crap were a bit of a sod to undo but other than that it is a walk in the park!
The pedal is much lighter now, haven't had a chance to test it on the street yet but hopefully I will be able to in about 3 weeks when I get a new toy bolted on :)

I took mine off when i put the new motor in. It makes a massive difference. I never used mine so it was easier to get rid of it and a bonus the engine bay don't look as cluttered.

so pedal response is faster tim? i may do this on mine, get rid of the cruise control, save a little weight at the same time

Hmm... sounds like a good idea, then I can put the sway bar on the opposite way and get at the throttle body without removing it... did you bother replacing the wiper stalk at the same time?

Does the cruise need an ECU?

Ive got the stalk, cables and the mechanism. Just not sure if it has an ECU. If it does I'll buy whatever I'm missing off someone. I'm doin a big road trip later this year, would love to have cruise.

which model VR4's come with cruise control?
i was under the impression only the GGSR's had cruis control bt quite obviously i was wrong.
Or is it just A-specs wth cruise?

yes it does, there are 2 versions of the cruise from what i can figure out

HG: servo controlled cruise (more accurate and less fluctuation in speed)
HH: Vacume controlled cruise (accurate in straight line but speed tends to fluctuate at times, vac pump tends to shit it self too)

stalks are different styles as well....

i believe they were a factory option on both Aus and Jap spec VR4's

I've never seen a Factory Jap running Factory Cruise.

Anyone wanna sell the whole set up to me? As I understand no one would want to sell just the ECU.

I'll trade you my entire cruise control set up for your throttle/wiper setup + the cyclone manifold actuator bits and pieces :D

Throttle/wiper setup? you mean the non cruise stalk?
I've got my Cyclone mani in my garage, its pulled apart to inspect the butterflies and reseal the gaskets. Have the diaphragm, lines and the mani brace with the hard lines.

Yeah, well you'll need the cruise stalk and what will I do without it? Heh...

I already have a cyclone manifold, I just don't have the damned actuators or the brace, or anything apart from the 3 pieces.. although I guess then you'll be in the same boat as me.. maybe we can work something out? Do you think cruise control is of the same value as a complete cyclone intake? (I assume you had a j-spec, and the cyclone worked prior to you removing it?) My cruise works fine, not that I can demonstrate it because the haltech cycles the 02 loop a bit more aggressively than stock and it hunts up and down. I'm sure I could make it work properly, I just don't care hehe..

Yeah, it used to work. I already have a cruise stalk, actuator and lines. Just no ECU.
Once I get back from Bathurst I'll chase it up. Talk then.
