all the cheap copies from China are killing a lot of manufacturing areas.

And giving the real products a bad name when the fake fails.

Sadly the same thing will happen with local australian companies soon...

That's a real shame guys. I thoroughly agree that the cheap Chinese knock-offs were a contributing factor for the decline in Trust's sales. Some big name companies just cant compete price wise when manufacturing components in house compared to what things can be made for in China. Unfortbnately many companies are left to go bust by not making any sales, or move toward cheaper manufacturing and making either greater profit margins or reducing the price of their product to remain competitive. BUT, at the end of the day its us, the consumers, who are ultimately responsible. How can we get people to stop buying cheap Chinese knock-off, EBay, fly-by-nighter company products? The truth is, we cant :( and we've all been on a big anti Chinese knock-off bandwagon for the last couple of years...

I'd say a general decline in the aftermarket industry. New cars are getting harder and harder to modify and with the crap they're producing having a warranty is almost required. Very few people will blow their warranties to go a little faster a little earlier. Unfortunately that has a flowon effect for these manufacturers.

Yeah, I was notified of this a month or so ago. :) It's really disappointing, but that's the way of the future...and has been for some time. Some people have the mentality...''it's so cheap and if it should happen to fail, i'd just replace it''...and they may do this two or three times when the quality product keeps powering on. BUT, this is not always the case. There are some cheap products out there that shame the rip-off merchants. Furthermore, these cheap products not only effect manufacturers like Trust, look at the big picture - quality repairers for these products for instance; if everything these days is going to be built to be disposable, what is left for them to repair....?

It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, if the company management is not up to scratch, it will go under. The hardest bit is getting to be recognised in any business. It takes dedication, motivation and a bit of balls to make it to the top. Once you get there it is a lot easier as long as you don't lose track of what got you there in the first place. There is only so much room at the top..

I think it cuts both ways, I have always felt that the stuff made... well I should say sold by them was well over priced for what it was.
If you sell a product that is twice as good as the copy/other product yet you sell it at 5 times the price then people are going to look at the copy/other product and say that looks like far better value.

I was getting my oil changed today and there was a bug-eyed
model WRX parked next to my car. I said to the mechanic
"that looks tough", he then went on to tell me it's a Ebay Special...
the owner even put an Ebay Turbo on it. And surprise, suprise it f*cked
up big time, hence why it was in getting worked on.
My mechanics recommendation is to stick with established + quality
parts. So that's what I'll be doing.

Theres still cheaper good quality brands tho.
When we say cheaper we dont always mean ebay stuff.
GReddy have always been overpriced. and people just werent buying it anymore, and yes it was quality, but all you were paying for was the name. There are similar brands out there that are much cheaper.
