CAD car drawings

i was thinking the other day that i might draw my car in a 3D CAD program and also get it rapid prototyped as a scale model

so my question to you all is who would want a custom model ot their own car

ive always wanted to model up my engine bay so that i could trial fit components and experiment with i-cooler plumbing, turbo/exhaust sizes etc.

But then CBF's kicked in!

Would love a CC sedan/gsr/evo 3d model though. heaps of potential to design & test out mody mods.

how do you plan on doing that? I don't imagine it's possible to do properly without scanning the car?

well i dont know about the cost yet thats something i will chase down once the modeling is done

as for the accuracy +- 1 mm i have my ways

i do cad drawings for 45 an hour, its not cheap

true but i can do all the 3D modeling myself so its only the prototyping that will cost but work has some contacts

im sure there are some rapid prototyping places that can 3D a CAD for reasonably cheap.

its rather expensive but 3D printing is cheaper

3d printing is cheaper, but depending on the printer, they usually have a roughish cross hatch finish. we've got one at uni but i dont think they'd be to keen on punching out afew hundered mini evos.

id be keen on a E1,2 or 3. but you might want to make a start drawing the solid model, coz that would take friggin ages!!!!
