ALERT!CALDER PARK DRAG STRIP CLOSED FOR RESURFACING!
September 11, 2006

On FRIDAY 10 NOVEMBER 2006 the Calder Park drag strip and start line will be closed due to resurfacing. Street Drag Racer?s, this is to notify that Calder Park?s first 100 metres on the drag start line will be resurfaced so as to remove the irregularities in the drag start line area. This upgrade is planned for week commencing 6 November 2006 (weather permitting!).

The new and improved Calder Park drag strip will be open for the Friday Night Legal Off Street Drag Racing Friday 17 November 2006 (weather permitting!). Management and Team at Calder Park Raceway thank you for your support and cooperation.

ALERT! TO ALL FRIDAY NIGHT LEGAL OFF STREET DRAG RACING COMPETITORS!
September 11, 2006

As of FRIDAY 6 OCTOBER 2006, the Friday night Legal Off Street Drag Racing Competitor Entry Fee will increase from $55 to $65.00.
Calder Park has been able to maintain this $55 entry fee for the past five (5) years!

That's good going considering Calder Park has implemented a range of upgrades to the facility?and more major improvements yet to come!

This increase in entry fees may seem disapproving to you, however, please take into consideration that Calder Park has been offering drivers a safe and legal alternative to street racing for the last 25 years - without a single major injury to the driver. Calder Park also offers motorists a competitive environment where they can race against their mates and other drivers.

In addition to this, and for your own peace of mind, the new competitor entry fee will continue to include Driver, Crew and Official Accident Insurance - in the event of an unforeseeable incident. Please be aware that this does not cover the damage caused to your vehicle or motorcycle.

I like how they are improving the track but disappointed that they have to raise the cost of entry to the drags on a friday night.. i know for some people this is disheeartening and they wont go out there anymore due to increase.. you haev to take into consideration also that the fuel prices are soo high!!!

Jon

cunts! it's about time they updated the facilities there anyway... what a shithole it is!

resurfacing 100m of the track doesn't warrant a $10 increase in my opinion, it already costs a small fortune to participate, let alone the high price for spectators to stand on dirt and patchy grass to watch

POS return track...

fark that, heathcote is my pick now..
day time
more time..

the thing about heathcote is that its age away if something breaks.. also the fact that its no where near as prepared as calder is.. calder by far is the best track.. also the timing boards sometimes plays up..

but still $40 vs $65.. it does make sense to go to heathcote.

Jon

I cant believe it!! This is getting ridiculous!!! $65??

This might sound sad but that old fart Bob Jane is a greedy mofo. The sooner he carks it, the better.

65 dollars can only get u limited amount of runs, lucky to get 3!! (unless u get there on the dot... but peakhour traffic and all that crap make it hard)

45 dollars at heathcote is enough racing to make u sick...

calder is a better venue though
heathcote is more relaxed...

damn drag racing.. cost too much..

And if the Gov't really gave two shits about getting people of the road and to the track they would subsidise some of the cost..

BUT NO.. THEY WOULD PREFER THE REVENUE.

Cunts.

What are the costs for racing in other states???

I'd be more than happy to pay the $65 for a decent track like WSID.......

Does anyone else here see the trend???

I pitty those who have eaten any kind of what they call "food" from Calder Park, its sick- fully........

they should start racing at 5pm and go to 6am

the temps at 2-3am would be sweet

then $65 would be worth it

or even 10am till 5pm

i know
we should start an anti calder club..
lol

pissin me off thinking about it
the sad thing is that there isn't another track for ages...

u guys know any wealthy ppl who would want to open a track??

i still don't see what the problem with racing at sandown is?

how can residents complain if racing was to stop by 10:30-11?

so much for trying to keep racing off the street... putting prices up isn't going to do that.

someone contact today tonight. maybe they might be interested in doing a story about it..

Jon

It would be twisted against us..

"Hoons prefer to race on roads and endanger our poor childrens lives than pay $65 to race legally"

Resurfacing aint cheap, and depending on the blend of asphalt/rubber and how many layers (thickness of the stone) it would have cost them at least $50,000 to get 100m at 15m wide track for example. In this case a $10 hike in price is paid for with 5000 compeditors so that's fair enough. The increase in number of users attending the venue increases insurance and ongoing mtce. Strips are getting more and more popular than in past years therefore the cost of maintaining all facilities goes up accordingly (strip, seating, grounds, plumbing, toilets, lighting, parking, insurance, emergency response and services, communications, employee wages, you name it). I dont like profiteering just as the next person (ahem... petrol stations on every block) but we have to be accept small rises and their service they are offering. The last thing we want is for owners/organisers getting hassled out so much that they quit the service, sell up and no more venue (happened here at the Newcastle motordrome) - we have sweet fuk all now
